Diet and Workout Routines

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I just finished my second month doing StrongLifts. I haven't lifted in a gym since college, about 10 years ago. I had done Insanity and P90X with my wife, but my diet was never great so I never really lost as much as I wanted. It did help build a little muscle, which is nice.

For those of you who have done StrongLifts, or another similar type program: how long should I be doing this program? I'm up to 280lbs on the squats, at what point does doing 5x5 squats 3x a week start hurting recovery? It seems like a lot to be doing every other day, or is that normal?

You keep doing it as long as you are adding weight every time the program tells you to do it. I'm not familiar with the SL weight progression..are you supposed to add weight weekly? It sounds silly to do the same amount of weight 5x5 three times a week IMO

You don't add it weekly, you add 5 lbs. every time you perform it on a new day. Workout A is squats, bench and barbell row. Workout B is squats, overhead press and deadlift. 3 workouts a week, alternating days. So for bench, barbell row, overhead press and deadlifts you're adding 5 lbs. every other workout, and for squats you're adding 5 lbs. every workout.

So I've been killing the gym and eat great. I barely see the results though. I've got fair skin. fuck it, I'm gonna get my tan on. first time I've ever done it. I'm excited! Anyone.have any tips on any the process??

I got you, I misunderstood your first post. As long as youre still adding 5lbs every work out, then keep doing it.. congrats on being up to 280 btw!

I've been squatting 3x a week for a couple years now and I love it, I also read the book Squat Every Day and agreed with about everything in it.. squats are life <3

played so much bball this weekend.

my casual shoes have better grip than my bbal shoes, so i used those.. my little toes are bigger than my big toes.

i.. fucking shot the ball really well.. @TyGuy, i tried the kyrie/chris paul shot, where your left leg lands before your right... it was fire... like 6/8. why??

also, im much better at driving than shooting, until my feet are on fire.

If I pull up going right I believe my left leg lands first. I know in turn around shots over my right shoulder one lands first.

you know what Im talknig about though? like its a staggered landing.. it feels fluid and keeps you pointed directly at the hoop for some reason.

any idea why this works?

You are usually leaning back just slightly to get more arc and space to get your shot off.
