Draft Express trade rumor: Jamison to Cavaliers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The #5 pick would be very nice IMO. We could easily pick up a nice guard or trade down until we find a guy we want.

If Washington really just wants to cut money. I would do Ben for Jamison/Filler(Crittention?). Its saves them a bunch of money and puts us in good condition to beat Orlando. That leaves us with Pavs to deal for another big man. Then we use or MLE/BAE to sign a swignman like Odom or maybe Childress then a veteran PG like the french guy. That would be a perfect off-season IMO.

For those who think Washington will trade us their 5th pick. You're crazy.

I think the key is getting the 2/3 that you talk about, 4everfan23. We need to get an Ariza, Odom, Childress no matter if we get a Jamison/Smith or not. I would prefer Smith, but I could be completely wrong. Just love how young he is and the fact that he has the size/athleticism to guard guys our team has trouble guarding.

That's not a bad idea either ONLY IF we have a good option coming up for a center. Maybe Tyson Chandler or Rasheed, but if we trade Ben for Jamison (and filler) then I see no way for us to get Shaq. However, in this deal with Washington, to me, the #5 is more valuable than even Jamison, especially if James Harden is around. I would even be willing to throw in #30 and/or money to do that, but even then it seems too good to be true. I like everything that W&G is saying about more and more options becoming available each day, so it is sounding like there are plenty of solid routes for the Cavs to take this off-season.

I thought it was a bad idea to trade our assets for a 37 year old big man who's contract is almost up. I definitely don't like the idea of trading our assets for a 33 year old big man with 3 years left on a big contract. He's a good player, but at his age he is not worth it.

Idiot that I am, I owe this thread a bump.

His reliable scoring would help us and allow Z to play less minutes by stretching the floor opposite AV or Darnell. I think we could do better for a long term option at the 4 and he doesn't help us at all against Dwight Howard but I'd rather have him over Sheed.

I am not a big fan of Harden's. There are others in the draft I would rather get if we had the number 5 pick.

See to me its worth it.

If we traded for Shaq we would have to use both of our assest for a one-year rental who is limited. Yes Shaq is a player capable of guarding D.W and Pau Gasol on the defensive end, thats great but the offense is a problem. He is a bad pick and roll player which is something we cant afford. He would also make Lebron play off the ball much more. Is it that something we want Bron to do? Shaq is a great great player that will be in the hall of fame but is he worth it at this point in the game.

With Jamison, I could see us having to give only Ben and maybe a second rounder or future first. Thats a better deal IMO. Jamison obviously cant guard Dwight but he can guard Hedo/Rashad. Jamison's defense isnt the best in the world but you dont to be a super defender to defend Rashad. Jamiosn fits the bill pretty well. I could also see him being able to guard KG. Jamison is only 6-9 but that doesnt seem to bother too many people cuz were also pulling for Boozer. On the offensive side Jamison is better suited then Shaq. He is very good off the ball, can get to lane and finish, has some nice polished post moves, range, and has a quick release. He wouldnt change the offense like Shaq would.

Jamison also played center at times when Eddie Jordan went small. Him and Shaq arent young but Jamison has been more durable then Shaq and has played in less playoff games and a little slower game.

If I had to choice it would be Jamison. We would still have to fill a couple holes but those would be very reasonable and relatively easy to do.

I never said I wanted Shaq, in fact I DON'T want Shaq. Problem is I don't want Jamison either. They're just too old. Jamison is going to begin to decline soon, he may have already started. He isn't worth the amount of time and money left on his contract, let alone we would have to give up our best trade asset (Ben) to get him. I would rather hold our assets and try and find a younger more long term option. I'm not even suggesting holding out for a Bosh or Amare. I'd be fine with a CV or Josh Smith, I just hate the idea of parlaying our expiring contracts into another old player who we'll be looking to replace within 2 years. That's not how you get younger and that's not how you begin a dynasty. I don't want us to be the 1 hit wonder Miami Heat.

So we might get the number 5 pick too?

If so I am all for it.

Jamison does not strike me as a shut down defensive player.
He continues to improve his consistency, but he's not all that atheltic and not very tough.

I would pass on this.

Once again I like Caron or the big guy, but Jamison is overrated in my book.:thumbdown

Not me, Sheed has more toughness and the same amount of Offense in my book.

chris broussard said a few days ago that the cavs should not sign sheed because he's done and doesn't even want to play basketball anymore

hmm, if we do this trade imo we'd probly have to give hickson...

Ben + JJ for Mike James / Jamison / #5

http://www1.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5122134

Most wouldnt do that, but realistically if we get jamison, we wont need JJ for a couple years... we could use the #5 on a C or a SG, plus we'll have Mike James, Sasha, Kinsey, Darnell, Jawad expirings to trade still...

Just thinking out loud...

Based on Draft Express' mock and who is likely to be available, these would be our likely choices:

1. Stephen Curry, G Davidson- we know Lebron loves this guy's game; he would have to be the prohibitive favorite. Like his dad, Curry is a long range bomber.
2. Tyeke Evans, G Memphis- stud freshman, who can play some point, but is probably a better 2 guard in the NBA.
3. Jordan Hill, PF/C Arizona- big man would provide much needed depth in the frontcourt. Hill is long and he has the ability to play some center.

Personally, I would rather take Evans, but, knowing how much Lebron likes Curry, I just can't see them passing him up. A Curry selection would seemingly put Daniel Gibson on the trade block.

Jordan Hill just keps impressing more and more as time pases, league wide.
