Dwyane Wade: Back to Riley (#CavsLifer)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He's got a legit shot at 6th man.

Sports media are so anti-Clevelannd that the ONLY way for LBJ and Wade to win awards will be if we have AT MINIMUM the best record in the East.

And, even then, it might take the best record in the NBA to make it happen.

Honestly, I think we have a legit chance to challenge for the best record down the stretch if everyone stay healthy. With our bench, we aren't going to lose many more games against non-contenders.

CLEVELAND LEGEND DWYANE WADE HAS BEEN BALLING ON THE SHORES OF LAKE ERIE HIS WHOLE LIFE

There seems to be a real push for Harden and Gordon to get MVP/6th man. Gordon's started a bunch of games so thats inflated his stats.

(I'm still not 100% convinced this has not been mainly a soft schedule)

Hmmm...interesting. I hadn't thought about our strength of schedule during the winning streak, but you're right...it's certainly something to remember so that we don't lose perspective.

We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

Yup. It's bullshit on both accounts. Which is why we will need the best record in the NBA for LBJ and Wade to win.

The start of our win streak we played some good teams and still won. It’s only now our schedule is easy.

Yeah, I think our SRS is 10th or 11th overall. Strength of schedule is 24th.

Still, that does not mean what we are seeing is false. But better teams will do things like prevent open corner threes and easy transition opportunities. Or they'll know who to play off of while maintaining defensive rotations. And, on offense, I think a lot of teams will start attacking JR and Calderon/IT. Those two (and I am assuming IT) are not playing well on defense, but other teams have not been able to capitalize. Better teams will, though.

With all of that said, I am cautiously optimistic.

We turn it up against good teams even when we were struggling.

To me its going to be about how Jeff Green handles playing against a great team like the Warriors or Spurs?
Can Lue figure out how to make Korver effective against the Warriors? Kyle has been here a while now so we should have a better chance.

Another reason I want us to have as much depth is because they play VERY fast out west. We need the extra bodies and know when to rotate.

I could see Wade aging like Manu. Much of his game right now will not decline over the next few years. And LeBron is still getting better.

The thing with Wade is what if his knee more or less falls apart like it did in 2013-2014. He had a hard time even staying on the court then and when he was on court he just didn't have the physical gear to move well in high intensity playoff situations. He was having his knee drained on a routine basis just in order to get on the court. It seems like those knee issues are being much better managed now with reduced minutes but I could see them returning. I'm not sure they ever fully go away, and they are the reason his athleticism has declined so much. On the other hand, I think he has adopted his game to his knee issues to some extent...he still tried to use his athleticism a few years ago and now he is much more focused on being crafty while staying ground bound.

P.S. some of those knee issues forced Wade to sit during the regular season last year, so they're still lurking. That's why I think we should sit him in back to backs. Just say knee soreness or something.

Yeah, so my point was more independent of knee issues forcing him to miss time. If they are frequently recurring, though, my bet is he will retire before he has time to "age like Manu."
