Dwyane Wade: Back to Riley (#CavsLifer)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
P.S. some of those knee issues forced Wade to sit during the regular season last year, so they're still lurking. That's why I think we should sit him in back to backs. Just say knee soreness or something.

It is definitely something that needs to be monitored - we need to remember that since Wade has entered the league, he's never played a full season - he's always missed a handful of games due to injuries. I do think we have one of the best strength and conditioning teams in the NBA coupled with access to the Cleveland Clinic, one the premiere hospitals in the country. Player recovery is nothing new our organization.

Wade is playing a career low in minutes and he isn't carrying the burden of having to be at his best every night. He has taken on this role seamlessly and we as fans need to revel in games like last night. As others have stated, not only has he accepted this role in about the best way possible, his game has shifted from relying on his athleticism to relying on his b-ball IQ. The other role players are the ones to thank for this because the 2nd unit seems to just get each other - Frye and Korver move off the ball so well and hell even Green seems to know when to cut / and when to trot the 3 pt. line much better than I anticipated.

So far, so good. Hopefully Wade joins LBJ on his yearly sabbatical to fountain of youth in January and runs water all over those knees.

LBJs yearly sabbatical that only happened once.

One of my main reasons for keeping Rose in the fold. Its going to come a time where we just need to sit Wade a week or two every other month. Even if Rose is only good for the 20 or so games that Wade sits.

He's averaged just 60+ games the last few years. I know he's playing less mins, but he still lands on the ground hard.

Its crucial that we get this version of Wade in the playoffs. So gotta be Spurs like with his rest.

I could see Wade aging like Manu. Much of his game right now will not decline over the next few years. And LeBron is still getting better.

The trick is going to be continuing to develop guys like Cedi, Ante, etc. while playing mainly the vets. And, if this vet core really turns out to be this good (I'm still not 100% convinced this has not been mainly a soft schedule), that is easily possible.

I know this is DWade's thread but how ridiculous is that bolded bit!

A guy in his 15th season is still getting better and is quite possibly having one of his Top-3 NBA seasons ever. Christ!

Wade is balling at this time..and the bad part is , even though the crowds and probably some players are calling him "Old"..he's steal beating them.
Cough...he is old(er)..heh..

Last night was D-Wade's 20th game off the bench which is a pretty good measuring stick on the role he's accepted and stats he provides, I for one don't want Rose stepping in and messing with what's working.

D-Wade as a reserve: +9, 13 ppg, 48% FG, 36% 3pt, 4 rebs, 4 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk, 24 mpg

Out of all the good teams, or say playoff teams, we have the best scoring bench at 41 per game and we're #2 in Deff (efficiency difference) at 12.2 behind Toronto's 13.7.

This is LeBron's best bench he ever had and I hope it pays dividends.

I mean how much easier is it to be confident when the team is playing good D?

I'm starting to get confident as the days go... early on I wanted to pull my hair out, but I never gave up on them like some posters did around here talking about 'I'm checking out until the playoffs' lol that's bogus, as fans we gotta live for the journey of the season while watching the GOAT. Right now this is the best regular season fun we've had since the return and even that was rocky.

As though Lue is even capable of doing that!

He'll burn him out by April

On potentially returning to the starting lineup once Isaiah Thomas is back:

"I'm good where I'm at," Wade told cleveland.com. "The problem would only be worse when Isaiah comes back, because he's going to need his shots. Where I am now, it's working for me and for this team."

With an off-season packed with big-name signings and transactions, you could argue that the two biggest successes at this point in the season have been HOU acquiring Chris Paul and us signing Wade. PG13, Melo, CP3, and Irving dominated the off-season talk while Wade coming to CLE seemed like just a small blip on the media radar but here we are sitting with the best bench production Lebron has played with, something that seemingly should only extend that proverbial peak of his career.

Wade, i salute you for your selflessness. Truly a breath of fresh air compared to years past.
