Being a NBA fan in New Orleans I can tell you a couple of things from being at a lot of Hornets games RIGHT behind the bench (Roommate knows byron scott, even though hes fired still got his tickets):
1. Collison isn't a fluke. Hes an EXCEPTIONAL driver, has unstoppable quickness, is unselfish and his teammates like him, plays HARD on defense (and this was on a team going nowhere, playing against nobodies, with nobody watching) and has absolutely 0 fear.
Most of all, he cares. He will work to be better. Thats what you really need with young talent.
2. Okafor is terrified. You can detail everything he does wrong specifically, but the basic problem is hes scared. His hands often visibly tremble on offense, he misses easy catches, he causes turnovers because he hot potatoes the ball, and he completely disappears in the clutch.
Hes reached his potential. Hes not getting any better and imagining him in a playoff situation is a nightmare, for him and me.
That being said, NO needs Okafor gone. They've stuck with Peja this long, hes about to be an expiring, they really just need Okafor's long term contract off the books.
Personally, if I'm Cavs mgmt, I say stay patient, Collison's stock is as high as it can be, might as well wait.
