listening to Clippers reportes in the 1st quarter..yes he scored 8 or 10 points and they say "he has that soft touch arounnd the basket". Evan is very good player, but for now soft touch is not something I would describe his game

His touch around the basket is very good. However, as @Smooth noted, the problem with Mobley is his FG attempts haven’t increased over the years and his shot profile shows a guy who mostly only dunks the ball and doesn’t space the floor when the Cavs need a big that can space the floor.

His TS% has gone up as has his FG%, but it’s only because he’s taking more shots from 0-3 feet every year.

Perhaps having DM, DG, Allen, LeVert, Strus on your team might lead to shot stagnation

We can't give Derrick Favors 2.0 the max ,we just can't.

Mobley has flashed more skill than Favors. The inconsistency is maddening.

Pedestrian numbers in this day in age
89 Shots per game is the NBA average. The Cavs are averaging 87.

Donovan - 19.7
Garland - 15
LeVert - 12
Allen - 10.6
Strus - 10.5
Okoro - 7
Niang - 7.7
-------------------
Mobley - 11.1

The inverse is you give Mobley 16-20 shots/game, he avg's 25+ and the Cavs have a worse record. Adding Donovan stunted Mobley. Do not blame Kolby for this, his job is to win a ring by adding talent.

Not excusing his lack of growth in other areas. He has a ways to go. But to dismiss Mobley at this stage of his career is insane. They aren't causal #s: he's limited for obvious reasons.

I think part of the problem is Levert and Niang should never have more shots than Allen or Mobley. I think you should take 4 of their shots away a game and give them to Mobley and/or Allen. We would be better imo, and score more.

Hell, Levert's shooting numbers suck big time. He should probably drop 4 shots alone and we'd probably average 2 to 4 more points a game.

Also, I think people who watch box scores get frustrated with Mobley, but for the most part watching a game, there are moments in every game these days where he is clearly the best player on the floor, or at least the most complete player. He can literally wreck total havoc on defense and he generally makes great decisions on offense, but there are also times where he gets ghosted by Levert and others... and has minimal impact.

I believe he needs to start getting in teammates faces to get him the ball.
