Happy Trails George Hill

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He's basically a souped up Delly. Spot on acquisition by Koby. He's gonna be the first guy in a long long time to bring out the best in LeBron

With all the Delly superlatives you would think he was one of the best Pgs in the league or something.

Delly was nice for what he was, and he was all hustle and heart, but don't forget the fact that he couldn't keep up with faster PGs on the defensive end and had very average length and active hands. Offensively he could only shoot 3s when he was wide open and in rhythm, and had a pretty bad in between game other than the occasional floater.

I'm guilty of wanting to have him start at some points, but come on not everyone who can defend and shoot 3s is some better version of Delly. Like if you asked Cedi and Hill who they modeled their game after when they were young and they would say: Delly man, for sure.

Nah. Delly ruled but he only showed the prototype of what we needed next to Lebron.

This guy just might be the best addition in the trade. From the second he touched the floor you could tell this is a true pro. The way he controls the ball, he can play off the ball it doesn't matter. He is just always in control it seems, knowing what he is doing. His attitude, his defense, he actually tries to deny kyrie the ball. Saw him pick up kyrie full court, just to let him know he's there. The pick and roll with lebron was a thing of beauty. And the frame work on this guy is insane, looks like he has huge hands and long arms! Love what I have seen from him, look forward to seeing him and lebron play the rest of the season!

Weird, was browing his advanced stats on basket-reference now, and apparently he was very bad last night. I just don't understand those stats anymore.

I'm not going to look at them for this team anymore, don't want them clouding my judgement of our players. Gonna use the old eye test.

His advanced stats every year until this one have been fine, and this year (until today) they were accurate. He did suck in Sacramento. It's clear he signed there for the money (can't blame him) and then checked out once the team obviously sucked. Now that he's been traded to a contending team, I fully expect him to going back to being the same player he's almost always been before signing with the Kings.

I love his concentration. He looks so serious. This guy means business.

I know his advanced stats historically been great. Sac was the exception and now his first game with us. What i'm saying is that i'm just not going to look at his adv stats because he looked pretty good so I don't want his stats to cloud my judgement of him as a player even if they continue to look bad compared to his historic stats.

Lots of league stat guys and execs think current defensive metrics, even private team generated stats, are, for lack of a better word, trash..

I don't know about trash... it's very nice to have and helps you form a better judgement of a player, but at times you just gotta ignore it I guess.

Like last night we would have conceded numerous baskets if IT was on the floor. Hill is extremely good on switches... that charge against Tatum would have been an easy basket against IT without any resistance most likely. There were numerous others, but you just can't have that on a championship team in this new NBA switch heavy era even if his Offense would have recovered.

I want to buy Synergy Sports membership to be honest, but it's expensive. Would like to post some stats of NCAA players and NBA.

Short Answer: Sacramento (and no one stat is the end-all)

How many more quality years does this guy have left? My biggest concern with trading for him was his age...

his contract has only one more full year left on it (there is just $1 million guaranteed for 2019-20), so I'd say we are OK in terms of our committment to him. He has size, strength, shooting ability, and basketball IQ and those tend to last longer than pure athleticism.

Clarkson was eye opening on D. Love his size and lateral speed. Can be very good if he tries especially against 2nd units.

The two keys to all these guys on defense will be effort and health. Hill and Hood don't have any flaws that prevent them from keeping in front of their opponent or limits in reach. Frye didnt have the athleticism, Thomas and Crowder didn't have the reach. These two have trouble playing in more than 60 games a season due to nagging injuries. There's not much you can do about that but the effort level needs to stay high. J.R. showed us on Sunday that effort level is the biggest key to defense.

Just because Delly fits an archetype doesn't mean he's the Paragon of said archetype. I don't see any basis for your griping about these comparisons, sorry.
