Hard Knocks

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Thought episode 2 was great but generally speaking, Gregg Williams makes me cringe.

If you made a football movie, he's seriously the stereotypical coach with the stereotypical lines. "This ain't college football durka durr".

This may be a critique of the editing specifically but he comes off as incredibly corny. It's especially hard in contrast to Haley, who has such a great personality.

I think with the “college football” line, I saw it him talking to the younger players/rookies. Basically what you did in college isn’t good enough for the pros. All football coaches use that line. Varsity will say “this isn’t freshman/JV ball anymore”. High school baseball coaches say “this isn’t your travel team”. It’s just coaches talk.

Yes, I know.....but it is incredibly cliche...especially in comparison to how other people deliver lines on the staff and handle rookies.

Again, not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, it just stands out in comparison to how the other coaches handle players (thus far).

It could merely be editing but the contrast between the offensive and defensive coaches is one of the more interesting things to me.

Why is the JUGS machine a punishment for this team instead of a routine for every last one of them?

Bro, we are behind the times. Practicing your craft is a punishment, and if you really act out of line, you must play extra on game days.

One of the really encouraging things about hard knocks has been that even though the crew is trying to tamp down that storyline early, in favor of a few others, you can tell just the entire organization is just giddy with Baker to this point.

They let little glimpses leak out...comments here and there but seeing veteran NFL coaches make comments like Hue and Haley have is so, so encouraging. Like in the game, when Hue is floored by the sideline throw on the move...almost shaking his head saying "How about that throw?".

Then how he interacts with teammates, how perceptive he already is as to the nuances of the game...the Callaway TD play was great....he finds him on the sideline and says "great release". On the NJoku TD, he's mentioning coverages and his thought process to his receiver as they talk about the TD. Baker seems to just not miss anything between the ears, which all the great ones have, in addition to their physical gifts. Going to be really fun to watch him grow and mature as a player.

The Cajuste seemed like mad up TV storylines to me... seemed very fake.

Maybe I’m wrong.

It's a good one way or the other storyline. They know if he makes the team which is like single digits percentage, it's a great story. If he doesn't make the team it will make for a good segment of what he does now. He doesn't have any more years left to go on to a practice squad. It will be a life after football story.

I think you're wrong. This happens every season with Hard Knocks. One fringe guy with a story always gets spotlight.

I’m about 99% it’s fake as fuck.

How do you not know your father had a 3rd heart attack? Just decided to leave that part out? And then they were having a laugh about it?

Either they aren’t close at all or the storyline is manufactured.

Haven't seen the episode yet but why did Coleman ask for a trade?

Because Hue had him running with the 2's.

At least that was his initial question when he stormed the coach's office, then sounding like a bitch while asking to be traded.

Very weird to me that you've keyed in on this heart attack thing as completely unbelievable and the reason you think Cajuste's story is fake.

To me it doesn't sound out of the realm of possibility at all that the father had a mild heart attack and didn't want to worry his son who is fighting for his NFL life right now.

You sure do like to speak in exaggerations, it seemed to be pretty clear that his dad was trying to protect him, in his mind at least about having to worry about him while trying to achieve a dream of making an NFL team. Not really sure where your getting that they were having a laugh about the whole situation, it seemed like Cajuste was just trying to keep it together around that part of the segment and somewhat in shock about learning that bit of information.
