Haslem set to meet with Cavs soon.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
how do we pay for him. Z + Jasikevious uses most of the rest of our cap (unless Z is giving us a heck of a deal). If we do sign those two, we'd somehow have to find someone to take Drew + Ira for cap space to free up the money for Haslem. And I'm not sure Haslem is an upgrade talent wise over Drew.

Who would you rather have: Sarunas or Haslem ?
I'd take spend my money on Sarunas. You can always trade Gooden for a defensive minded PF (like Haslem), but you cannot trade for Sarunas, you have to get him in free agency.

I wouldn't like a move where we'd sign Haslem for $ 6 m, then trying to trade Gooden for a PG. What point guard could you get for Gooden ?

I'd rather go for an experienced guard in Sarunas.

If Haslem comes aboard, Gooden is either gone or sent to the second unit.

C - Ilgauskas/Varejao
PF - Haslem/Gooden
SF - LeBron/Jackson
SG - Hughes/Pavlovic
PG - Saras/Snow

Damon Staudamire and Antonio Daniels are both NBA proven PGs that we can get, Damon for cheaper probably.

I really like Haslem and I was excited to hear the Cavs were interested in him at first. But the more I think about it, the more I'm sure if we should really be going after him. If we did sign him, I don't know if we could re-sign Z and sign Sarunas too. If Haslem joins I have a feeling Gooden is a goner. (Which would be a mistake in my opinion) But... if we're talking to Haslem, maybe that means Drew is already on the trading block? It'll be interesting to see what happens, this should continue to be a very exciting off season.

while i think bringing in Hughes, one of the PGs(Daniels or SJ), and bringing in a defensive mind 4 will really improve this team i wonder how long it will take a reworked roster to get use to one another? training camp and the preseason schedule would be very important for these guys so they can get off to a better start then last season.

Haslem is not a priority at all. This better mean that gooden is gone for someone in return that will help. We have many holes to fill and power forward is not neccessarily one of them.

I don't know about that exactly.

If you look at our current roster, we have Gooden and Varajeo with a project player in Martynas..... that's it.

We are dreadfully thin in terms of big bodies even after Z resigns. We only have three big men on the roster.

Haslem would be a solid signing, nothing special.

If we still have enough money to sign him after getting Z and a pg, Haslem would be a nice addition to our starting lineup. Hes a good defender that will do the dirty work for you. Hes great at feeding off other players and doesnt need plays ran for him to be effective.

How much would it take to get Haslem?

Would there be enough left over after the possible signing of Sarunas and the re-signing of Z?

we are looking to give z more years for less money thats why we are allowed to pursue haslem AND LeBron has lobbied for him becoming a fan during the playoffs seeing him in the rookie games and playing against him. Why don't we make lebron the GM too? Cuz whoever he wants we are persuing and we need a defensive banger who can rebound down low, drew just is too inconsistent i'd like to see him moved for a scoring threat off the bench and haslem in the starting unit, i love this hughes defense brown defensive coach persuing haslem wow we want to shut some teams down this is pretty cool. and we have teh offensive firepower to outscore them hughes bron z :D

The second unit is looking potentially better to.

Snow would man the reigns of the second unit and he could have some legit scoring threats in Gooden, Jackson, and maybe even Pavlovic on the floor with him.

WOW. Finally, some genuine talent and potential for LBJ! This is a great breakdown on 1st/2nd unit. If either Pav or Luke finds their touch, we are a serious contender.

Exciting times!!

It's been reported on ESPN Radio and also on realgm.com. We are looking at offering him a five year 33 million contract which is about $5million more than what the Heat can offer without using thier MLE. It was also reported that even with the signing of Hughes the Cavs can still sign Haslem, Z and possibly one more FA (Saruanas, Daniels, or Dickeau)
