Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I've never counted on shump for consistent offense but I'm waiting till the playoffs to start and see if he takes his defensive energy to another level before weigh in on the matter

It's not gonna happen. I think what happened last game might be the beginning of the end. 6 minutes because his effort is so, so poor. He's completely checked out on the season. You see it on offense just as much as on defense.

He might not be in the playoff rotation at all.

But hey, where else can you get a 26 year old shooting guard playing this poorly for 10 million a year?!?!?

This is horrible. The Cavs get their ass handed to them and Shump only played 6 minutes. If he had only played a lot more you all could blame him for this. You all got your wish and got your ass kicked.

Shump? Is that you bro?

Yeah he spent all off-season working on his jump shot. His main attributes were active hands in passing lanes, good weakside and man defender. He's ball watching on defense and leaving 3 point shooters on an island. He was an aggressive man-to-man defender as well but just skates around screens and gets lost now. Maybe it's more psychological than anything else.

Interesting thing happened last season. The Cavs players and coaches started calling JR the "BEST PERIMETER DEFENDER" on the team. Maybe Shump felt some kind of way about that but bottled it. Off-season rolls around and JR gets a better contract. This is a real thing and might explain the drop off in effort even though he shares a history I can't think of any other examples of a player who was considered an elite perimeter defender, suddenly being a liability on that end without age being a factor. You can point to the old "he got paid or it was a contract year." How will his performance the last two years and possible drop in minute going forward help him during his next contract? Team not wanting a 26 year old athletic player on a good deal speaks volumes for what his value is. Hopefully he turns it up in the playoffs and we trade him in the summer

Everyone trying to find reasons for Shump going in the tank when Knicks fans warned us this is who he is. A below average player with brief moments of being really good. It's why he's never been a full time starter on a good team. He lacks consistency.

His hair lacks consistency.

He used to play with energy and effort and given his athleticism, it went a long way.

4 years- 40 million after the 2015 season changed all that.

He was bad last year, but this year he has taken things to an entirely new level of uselessness.

Next time you will see a decent Shump is in 2019, his contract year.

Finally and at least you can't blame Shump for this one.

You had the worst +/- on the team, Iman.

As redblack just stated above, even when the team was up 26, you were still minus. How is that even possible, Iman?
