Jae Crowder, See Ya When We See Ya

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Uh, no.

Isaiah Thomas is the worst defender in the entire NBA.

Not to disagree, but at 37 years old, Jose Calderon might be worse.

I think we can find ways to beat them. But not with IT playing any significant minutes. If we picked up a defensive PG who could stick with Curry and handle some switches on defense then I think we could slow them down, take them out of their pace and rhythm, and bully them.

IT straight up for Bledsoe. Do it.

I clicked on "Funny", while crying! They really are two horrendous PGs defensively. The only two PGs in the league that can make Kyrie look passable. But just barely.

Actually per metrics, Reggie Jackson was the worst defender in the league, IT was just 2nd worst. But where is the humor in that?

I don't think that's because of Isaiah; in fact, I'd argue the opposite.

Not even... Thomas wasn't good against the Warriors at all..

Thomas' stats in those games:

2016-17:
2 games
31 MPG
21.5 PPG
1.0 TRB
3.5 APG
11/32 FG 34.4%
5/16 3P 31.3%
32% USG (wtf?)
.555 TS%
-13.7 +/- (I know you like plus-minus so included it here)

2015-16:
2 games
39.5 MPG
20.0 PPG
3.0 TRB
8.0 APG
16/42 FG 38.1%
3/13 3P 23.1%
29% USG (again, wtf?)
.444 TS%
-4.3 +/-

2015-16:
3 games
18.3 MPG
20.0 PPG
3.3 TRB
5.7 APG
16/47 FG 34.0%
6/22 3P 27.3%
30.6% USG (again, wtf?)
.501 TS%
-3.0 +/-

So, while the Celtics, the team performed well, relatively, Thomas did not.

Yikes. I have to say, regular season match ups don't tell you a whole lot.

I mean shit, Lowry would torch us in the regular season, then shit the bed in the post-season against us.

More strategy is used and flaws are exposed. Given that IT struggled though, and I'm not even suggesting he wouldn't find a way to score.

His defense is going to be a major problem against Golden State. He's 5-10, and Klay and Steph can shoot over that with ease.

I hate having IT here more because of GS. If there was no Golden State, I'd say fuck, just keep him. We have a team at least good enough to win it all. But we don't, not with GS.

I don't think he's garbage. I think he's an awful fit against GS though.

I just fail to see how he doesn't get exposed badly on defense against GS. Even worse than Kyrie.

I guess my biggest thing between Kyrie and IT; defensively at least.

Is that Kyrie's god awful defense, a lot of times, comes down to being fucking lazy and just poor effort. He's definitely not a defensive stellar, make no mistake, but he has some traits on that end. He has size, pretty good length for a guard with his arms, he's strong, you can't bully him with strength.

I don't think IT is that way at all. I think he plays his tail off on both ends. And has a much better work ethic.

He just can't make up for his height, and it's always going to be a major liability.

Where Kyrie, every now then actually plays hard on the defensive end, it makes a difference.

I'm not excusing Kyrie on that end. I was ready to re-evaluate him completely after the finals, where I came to the conclusion. He might just rarely, ever, truly give a fuck on that side of the ball.

Can't have so many defensive holes and expect to beat an offensive team like GS.

That's why I'm kinda disappointed we traded Kyrie and got back IT. My one hope was if we trade Kyrie, we can at least get rid of his hideous defense that does hurt us.

But nah, we got someone back just as bad on that end.

With KYrie you could atleast trap and double team, switch against a SG/SF or even a PF especially Draymond and not get punished hard, but with Thomas it's a losing battle.
You have to scrap every defensive gameplan other than man to man with him on the court.

Yep, they're going after him single time they can. I really, really, cringe at the idea of him playing a series against the likes of Klay and Steph.

If Lue really is going to switch with IT, OMG, that's going be comically awful.

Our entire defensive strategy has to change.

Yep! And I mean, he's giving up almost a foot to Klay Thompson, so... :chuckle:

But right now, I would trade IT for Lowry straight up and praise Jesus if we could pull that off...

Barring that, and assuming another star PG doesn't become available, I would just as soon start looking at All-Star wings and maybe even centers if I can pair Thompson and get a center/wing combination back.

We both have mention we're not the biggest Lowry fans. I'd do it in a second!

I don't hate IT personally, or have something against him. I actually find him very likable.

He's 5-9, and has made it in this league. He's got nothing but my respect. And him coming back and playing in the playoffs, after his sister died. Was truly gutsy.

The guy has a lot of heart.

I'm just not the biggest fan of his game, and his size, more than anything is why.

He can't help, I get it. But being under sized in this league, despite what talents he has, is a really, really big deal. Especially when it comes to defending a team that's the most talented offensive team I've ever seen.

I thought Kyrie's defense this finals was a liability. Boy, IT will take it to another level of that, sadly.

I really think the Cavs got try to trade him. I don't know what he'll fetch though. Should have got a third team involved. I would have loved the trade a lot more, if we weren't stuck with him.

LOL yeah right. Lowry shits the bed when he's opposed by George Hill and Goran Dragic, imagine how he'd play going up against Curry and Thompson.

I wouldn't take that pussy for free unless it was for the bench, and even in that role he'd choke.

Now people are saying IT measured 5'10, 5'11 at the combine. What happened since, did he shrink a few inches because of his hip?

I am not the biggest fan of Lowry, but say what you want, he's a really good defensive player.

Also, I get the feeling his playoff shitters might go a little better if he played with LeBron.

He's the focal point for Toronto, and I don't think he can handle that. DeRozan is not the guy; it's Lowry.

If Lowry was playing more off LeBron and Love; I think he'd handle it a little better.
