Jae Crowder, See Ya When We See Ya

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Celtics have actually played against the warriors better than just about anybody the last three seasons sans us.

I don't think that's because of Isaiah; in fact, I'd argue the opposite.

In the regular season.

Not even... Thomas wasn't good against the Warriors at all..

Thomas' stats in those games:

2016-17:
2 games
31 MPG
21.5 PPG
1.0 TRB
3.5 APG
11/32 FG 34.4%
5/16 3P 31.3%
32% USG (wtf?)
.555 TS%
-13.7 +/- (I know you like plus-minus so included it here)

2015-16:
2 games
39.5 MPG
20.0 PPG
3.0 TRB
8.0 APG
16/42 FG 38.1%
3/13 3P 23.1%
29% USG (again, wtf?)
.444 TS%
-4.3 +/-

2015-16:
3 games
18.3 MPG
20.0 PPG
3.3 TRB
5.7 APG
16/47 FG 34.0%
6/22 3P 27.3%
30.6% USG (again, wtf?)
.501 TS%
-3.0 +/-

So, while the Celtics, the team performed well, relatively, Thomas did not.

That's true and they can't stop IT either. They have no one that can guard him. I am having a hard time figuring out what they would do when they meet in the finals. IF they start abusing him, do you take him out and run a small lineup with no one under 6'6" on it?

Sometimes GS trying to play the mismatch can be a good thing. They suddenly lose their Rhythm because they are so concerned about the mismatch and teh ball isn't moving like it was. That can allow you to steal a game.

I dunno though. I don't particularly think we can add a guy and that helps us beat GS, no matter if it is marc Gasol or AD. You have to change the way you play, rebound, and defend to have a shot at them. I don't think it is impossible to beat them as currently constructed, but I have yet to see the commitment and coaching it would require. I think you have to keep their really good defense off balance, and I am not sure Lue is prepared to play that many guys.

This is good info, but isn't this selling out to stop him? We did the same thing in the playoffs. If tehy sell out to stop him like that, But Lebron and Love get going..

I don't know. It really suck you only get to play GS 2x in the regular season because it is really hard to figure them out.

I don't think it is demonstrative of the Warriors making any adjustments for Thomas. I just don't think he scores well against them.

Agreed... but if any team knows how to beat them, it's us.

Thomas scored 25 in Oracle in a game the Celtics won by double digits.

My AIDS is gonna get cancer when we face the Warriors and they put Love and IT in the PnR.
What's IT gonna provide that Ky didn't on Offense or Defense? Same problems as last year IMO

I'd say have him run the point off the bench against them, but hell I don't know.

Does Crowder have the handle to play 2? I don't think so, but could be wrong.

I think we should play him in the role we've always needed. Back up LeBron.. you can of course always play them together later in games if something is working, but for a starting 5 I still think JR works best

You don't need the handle to play the two when you have lebron, it, rose. We have enough ball handlers elsewhere. Danny Green doesn't have enough handles to play the two, but he does.

It's the hand we've been dealt. At least Crowder comes in and can put a body on Durant right away. LeBron is at his ultimate best playing help defense, we need to maximize him in that role, anybody forget Draymond calling Durant after his loss and crying about how they need him so Bron can't "hide"?

He's now the best defender on this team and a good enough athlete to play the two.

On LeBron James-led teams, the two-guard literally never handles the ball or creates. His job will be to cut off ball, run the floor, knock down open threes, and play his ass off on defense. That describes Jae Crowder.

He's a perfect two to play with James, and help mask Thomas' size/defensive issues. His physical size in the starting backcourt will be huge for us. James and Thomas will do the majority of the shot-creating.

Not only do I think he will start there for this team, I think he will thrive there.

JR as a scorer off the bench to pair with Rose also makes way too much sense.

So he can match up against Livingston? Who will post him up and score at will without breaking a sweat?

Nah.
