Jae Crowder, See Ya When We See Ya

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Crowder just wants to fight everyone, but when he faces them he just turns away. He gets knocked down, looks at the offender for a sec and then goes to mind his business.
I love this fake tough guy attitude.

I think Crowder best asset as a defender is his switching ability.. his lateral quickness isn't elite, but in the modern game he can just switch against anyone on the court.

If he were a better top of the key shooter, then using him as a screener in a high PnR would have been a great option.. because I can see his potential as a screener, but it really limits him that he can't knock it down from there.

Good game overall.

One thing I really respect about your posts is that you are the one of the only people who consistently talks about the importance of screen and pick setting. Seriously one of the most underrated things about basketball. And a skill that is practically essential for any forward or big in the modern NBA.

33 minutes. Second highest in the game behind Lebron. Lue just doesn’t know what he wants to do with this guy.

Nothing to do with the Tristan Thompson injury I'm sure *rolls eyes*. The more I see these types of posts on the forum the more I realize we don't know crap But Lue's the one stick with integrating half of a brand new team on a team that's been to the finals 3 years in a row and have no joy cuz they're running on fumes

One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of you guys are very impatient. Just give Crowder time to figure out his role. Lue’s constant lineup reshuffling hasn’t helped matters.

He’ll look a lot better in a couple months, especially when IT comes back. I promise.

He isn't the most talented player so he needs to be put in a position to be successful on the floor. He relies on good coaching probably most than most on this roster. His biggest advantage is his hustle and mental attitude.. just needs to play within his limits, but coach has to put him in good spots for him.

Well, GSW got to where they are because of good screening. Now they don't need it as much because they have great iso scorers.

Good screening is crucial to a team that lack creators and iso scorers. It's also crucial for role players as it's their most efficient ways of scoring and it also encouragaes good body and ball movement.

Our team is in huge need for good screeners.. It would be optmal if both the 4/5 were good screeners for on-ball and off-ball movement, and not only be limited to screening at the point of attack. Both Bogut and Green were elite screeners which allowed Steph to have good looks off the high PnR and at the same time use Green to screen for their shooters, specifically Klay... so the opposing team were always scrambling. We are too predictable and stagnant because of that.

Love at C isn't as good as it should be because he provides 0 intangibles. I don't understand why he such a poor screener. For as much as we laugh at Horford, he would have been a better fit than Love on both ends.

Zizic screening was so refreshing to watch.

And thanks I guess!

It's funny I was thinking the same thing about Horford vs. Love last night. Love is a much better overall player. But Horford is a great defender and sets absurdly good screens. The Cavs might actually be better off with Horford even though Love is way more talented.

Horford is having a hell of a season and can create better than Love from the perimeter. Better passer in the half court and off the dribble aswell.

He sets good screens and is a huge part in what the CEltics are doing on offense. He was also underrated as a Hawk.. he had a huge part for their good ball movement.

But I can't stand him. He is a bitch.

I'm kinda down on Love right now, but I'm not going there, at all.

I'm going to sound like an endless Love defender, when I'm actually a bit neutral.

Still maintain how we use him, is really bad.

That said, I wish Love had more alpha in him too. He's a nice guy, sooner or later, I wish he'd get a little pissed off and show more fire.

I don't know why he's willing to just accept such a minimized role at times.

That's being too nice, IMO.

He's not Kyle Korver. Love needs become a bully out there, and start DEMANDING the ball too.

He is just happy with his life at this point. We should also rate him for his all around improvements in life.. not just basketball.

But seriously, he needs to be more proactive and play like an alpha.

Last night was a good sign for Crowder, I think. We just needed him to show something, anything. I think he'll return to last year's form once he finds his groove with LBJ.

How much of this can we attribute to coaching? Crowder all of a sudden is statistically a below average defender. Meanwhile Kyrie is a better defender under Stevens (statistically).

I don't think it's either player improving drastically or getting worse. It's the coaching/system....

I think people on here and myself overrated him bigtime. He is just a role player. I mean i was thinking back on all the times we've played Boston and was trying to remember ANYTIME i was like oh shit that jae crowder is good, oh boy watch out for that guy, dang that guys playing good. None of that. Just some above average defense that is all.

Everyone always assumes that playing with LeBron takes players to the next level or two, and it's just not the case.

So they see an above average role player and then think "oh wait, LeBorn will turn him into a fringe all-star." No, he won't. Not usually, anyway.
