Jamario Moon (Heat decline offer)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Cavs sign Jamario Moon to offer sheet

I've got a gut feeling that Mo may have had some influence with this ...I've gotta make some calls once I'm free to make some calls.

Had the same hunch, W&G. I did some Google Mapping and found that each of Mo and Moon's high schools and colleges are located within one 5 hour drive.

Barnes too??

Re: Cavs sign Jamario Moon to offer sheet

Yea, I only watched one game. Please, don't tell me what I have watched and not watched, because you're a fool.
Yea he's a goood shooter because of his FG%... Because we know an athletic player such as himself is only taking jumpers, get a clue.

That made no sense, like your original post about Moon. Back your arguments up with facts and intelligence, otherwise you sound like an idiot.

The kids definitely got some talent. If we do get him our second unit will be Gibson, Parker, Moon, JJ / Darnell / Smith? / Z. That's a pretty good second unit if you ask me. Also, wasn't he involved in the Jermaine O'Neil trade that sent Marion to Miami??

Re: Cavs sign Jamario Moon to offer sheet

I may be mistaken but werent there some Cavaliers coaches that wanted the Cavaliers to sign or bring Moon to training camp the year he made the Raptors?

Re: Cavs sign Jamario Moon to offer sheet

Love this signing, was pulling for moon since last year. It's just really interesting windhorst hasn't reported anything about it nor w & g. I'm not getting my hopes up till I hear from one of those two guys...and then we have to hope Miami doesn't match...

If this goes thru we have become a much more versatile team, moon can effectively gaurd LO or rashard.

Re: Cavs sign Jamario Moon to offer sheet

Not thrilled... Mr. Moon takes many poor shots...

Re: Cavs sign Jamario Moon to offer sheet

The Heat qualifying offer would have only netted him $250,000 of guaranteed salary. To me, this would be a high quality addition much like Parker. Not the sexiest but you get a guy who pays dividends on the defensive end without being an offensive liability. He works very well for our system and if Miami doesn't match, we have gone a long way to plug in guys that fill the spots that were held by unreliable players last season.

So for those keeping score...Jamario Moon and I are both fools.

And yes he does support his FG% with easier buckets inside, but last year 72% of his attempts were jump shots (www.82games.com).

To give you a point of reference here are the jump shot percentages and effective FG% from last year's starters:

Mo: J% - 88%, eFG% - 54.5%
Delonte: J% - 77%, eFG% - 50.3%
Lebron: J% - 64%, eFG% - 42.7%
Andy: J% - 41%, eFG% - 34.0%
Z: J% - 65%, eFG% - 44.2%

Moon: J% - 72%, eFG% - 46.5%

So as a jump shooter, Moon probably falls between Delonte and Lebron. Say what you want about what you saw, but he's not a "terrible shooter".

And by the way, my critique of your comment was really more focused on Moon not being the same player as Kinsey, but I guess enough people have made that point.

Re: Cavs sign Jamario Moon to offer sheet

Not that second teams ever come out together in the NBA, but think of the 2nd team we could throw out there now?

PG - Parker
SG - Gibson
SF - Moon
PF - Hickson
C - Z

Wow

compare that to this years team:

PG - Gibson
SG - Pavlovic
SF - Kinsey
PF - Hickson
C - AV

Cavs sign swingman Jamario Moon to an offer sheet

According to an NBA source, the Cavaliers have pulled a bit of a surprise by tendering an offer sheet to Miami Heat restricted free agent Jamario Moon. The Heat would have seven days to match likely starting Monday when they would probably receive the paperwork.

ESPN.com first reported the story.

The Cavs have about $3.2 million left of their mid-level exception that they can use in whole or part to sign Moon. Offer sheets must be at least three years in length, though not all of those years must be guaranteed.

Moon is a 6-foot-8, 29-year-old late bloomer who broke into the NBA with the Toronto Raptors last season and was traded to the Heat last winter. He averaged 7.8 points and 5.4 rebounds over the last two seasons. He is able to play more at small forward than shooting guard, where the Cavs looked to settled themselves after signing Anthony Parker last week, and is known as a solid defensive player.

Usually Cavs General Manager Danny Ferry avoids players who are restricted and this is the first offer sheet he's given in his four years as GM. However, the Cavs may be acting with some gamesmanship here as the Heat twist a bit while waiting to see if Los Angeles Lakers free agent Lamar Odom accepts an offer they have given him. Locking up Moon to an offer sheet prevents him to be used in sign-and-trades, which the Heat may have been looking at as well.

Miami has several young players at Moon's position, including Daequan Cook and James Jones, and it may prevent them from matching. The Heat are also believed to be looking to save salary-cap space for next summer

What? I said he takes ill advised shots, he doesn't take them all the time. He still catches alley opps and get dunks, but takes ill advised shots. You and everyone else who have never seen him play can look at your stat sheets and what other people have said about him, I'll go off what I have watched.

Windhorst twitted about it.

Re: Cavs sign Jamario Moon to offer sheet

I think this may be the reason that the Cavs didn't/haven't signed Barnes.. They're similar players that will fill similar positions on the team and the Cavs probably thought Moon was/is the better player.. But hey, maybe the Cavs try to snag Barnes with their not being any real good PF options out there..

Something else is very interesting about this: Moon seems like the type of player that the Cavs are hoping Eyenga can develop into... They both have similar, basic skill-sets with Moon obviously being a bit more defined with his jump shot...

But it is pretty funny the Cavs have signed two former Toronto Raptors swigman... Joey Graham is next!
