Jeff Green: Old

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Assuming LeBron signs. What is Jeff’s market?

Outside of Hood, he’d be the only FA they’d have to worry about getting back.

He’s been a blessing on court.

I don't think it would be that high actually.

I'd imagine Jeff is at a point where winning is more important. He's been on plenty of shitty teams and seems to be enjoying himself here.

So I'd imagine he'd take a few less million to stay...

He signed in Orlando last season for $20 million.

I can’t trust that on my planet sir.

Money won't be available like in previous offseasons. I think Lou Williams signing a 3 year extension worth 24 million is a sign of that.

Think Jeff is 5-6 million. Maybe he could snag 7-8 from another team but I think winning would matter more to him.

Jeff Green will probably take our full MLE. I was worried, coming in, that Wade would demand that last year. But, with Wade gone, Green's available now.

I'm not sure we'll retain him... we have a lot of guys now who can duplicate his role. But, he'll fetch a pretty penny the way he played this year.

He might be looking for length of contract more than max $ in any given year. He's turning 32 this summer, and athleticism is a big part of his game.

He's a great bench piece for us, I'd love to sign him for two years at $5-6 million per.

As good as he has played this season, I think teams will steer away from signing him and we should be able to keep him with our MLE. He is still a tweener forward and its hard to maximize his skill set. The fact that we have LeBron makes it alot easier to play tweeners.

With LeBron and Green or any tweener, you can split up the duties of both forward positions to maximize Greens play. Green has played well without LeBron but I don't think it's ever been a question that Green can give 10-14 good minutes a game, it's the other 10-14 minutes to make him a good rotation player.

Really only Durant, George, and LeBron are well rounded at both forward positions to maximize tweeners like Green. Unless a team has a mirror image player of Green's skill set, teams have seen enough of Green career to know that they should target someone else.

I think he could get a new contract next year. I also think he'd be smart to stick with the Cavs.

Jeff has been really good. I like him a lot. He held down the bench nicely intially today and then defended and got rebounds. He has been pretty unselfish for a chucker with no shot selection.

I had a sort of negative impression of him as a selfish player before he came here. But I don't think he's selfish at all. He just has a skill set that can't carry an offense, he's too inefficient as a shooter and can't quite penetrate well enough. But as an opportunistic scorer and versatile defender he's excellent, you just shouldn't ask him to be a top starter.

I'm hoping he enjoys his role here and the value of a deep playoff run.

Depending on how this shakes out, Hood may be where they money gets allocated this offseason.

Thouroughly enjoying his play this year...hopefully he comes back next year

Just a great minimum acquisition.

Risk/reward has worked out in our favor.

If he finds a way to make life difficult for Koward in the finals...

Jeff when he was "an up and coming star" got that Jordan shoe deal. I don't know how much it is worth, but him being relevant on a team is a good thing for his brand. The problem I agree is that he is unlikely to get another big contract unless it is this summer. He has already made a lot of money, but letting 10M go by is probably not something he can stomach. I am hoping everyone sees him as great, but not going to work in their system.

Who knows though, with money tight maybe 5M is all that is availabel to him and then the MLE isn't all that bad in comparison. It won't be like turning down 10M.

Jeff is a guy I heard lots of negatives about throughout the years. He's "selfish," he's "washed up" etc... When in reality he's been a huge blessing this year on a great contract.

He hasn't been selfish at all, and he's played his ass off here for us. He's been doing everything a veteran should do for us and then some.

I really hope we can sign him for 2 more years at around $5-$6 million per, that would be a great price for what he can do. The absolute worst thing that could happen is he fires his agent and hires Rich Paul, then we'll somehow offer him $15+ million per year.. :chuckle:
