There is nobody in Black Pavs way and he's producing like this ?

Doesn't rebound
Doesn't go into the post
Can't shoot or pass or block shots

And I'd venture to suggest he's lazier than Jawad...

Horrid.... Disgusting..... Atrocious...

Yeah JJ sucks but I willing to bet you're the dude with a tongue ring

Re: JJ Hickson: Progressing like a fat Snail...

Ups and downs are common for young bigs in J.J.'s situation. Developing consistency will be key and that is not an overnight process. Luckily, we are not counting on him for anything truly important right now(like a title run) so we can have patience.

Re: JJ Hickson: Progressing like a fat Snail...

I had high hopes for JJ this season. I'm not giving up on him, but I'll be damned if I have half the confidence I did of his developing into a decent starter. I highly doubt we trade him away this early, so come february or march we'll see if he's catching on to the offensive sets and the fact that being as big as he his... he needs to fucking rebound.

Re: JJ Hickson: Progressing like a fat Snail...

He doesn't want to play. If you don't play defense, rebound, and pay attention while on the floor, then you don't want to play. I would trade him before the rest of the league realizes that he will never amount to anything. If we keep him, I would start Jamison and let JJ earn minutes if he wants them.

Re: JJ Hickson: Progressing like a fat Snail...

As far as JJ goes... its obvious coach has broken him down.... waiting for the build back up part..... I thought he was going to get some momentum going with that Indiana game... he was grabing every rebound remotely close to him..... the hardest thing he has going for him is that the offense is ready made for Antwan....... and with the way Jamison is playing he has become Coach Scotts' security blanket...... i don't think it's even remotely a coincidence that Antwan is playing better but Hickson is playing worse.....

Re: JJ Hickson: Progressing like a fat Snail...

Doesn't seem like he cares anymore since Byron rips him at any chance he has.

Re: JJ Hickson: Progressing like a fat Snail...

It's as if the Nerdlunks came down and switched JJ's and Tawn's personalities. I mean, just a few weeks ago, Tawn was the one acting like a 4 year old girl who ran out of fun dip.

hmm. I'm giving the young kid some slack. He's 21, right?

True, but he's playing like he's 12. I know it doesn;t help that Scott keeps benching him, but we've seen this song and dance before (with Mike Brown), giving JJ the quick hook. Something has to give: either Scott has to work with JJ and not ride him or we're gonna have to dangle him to a team that can deal with his emo tendencies.

It's not about inconsistency though. The most frustrating thing about watching him play is the fact that he looks like he doesn't give a shit. If he doesn't have the desire, he's not going to be anything, no matter how much experience he gets.

Throw some salt on him, sick of the kid.

Re: JJ Hickson: Progressing like a fat Snail...

It's hard to tell if JJ's lost all confidence or if he just doesn't care. He looks like he's regressed since the start of the season..I wonder if Scott's criticism got to him. Watching our recent stretch of games, you would have no idea how explosive an athlete he is..he labors around like he's Leon Powe out there.

Re: JJ Hickson: Progressing like a fat Snail...

Hickson has regressed from the start of the season. It's tough to defend the way he's been playing lately. Hopefully it's just the growing pains and ups and downs of a young player and one who is also playing a different role than he has before.
Everything about him hasn't looked good in recent games. Not only his play but his demeanor hasn't looked great either. No problem with Scott criticizing him and challenging him but it may be time to try to build him back up and encourage a little more.

Hickson is still the Cavs player with the most potential but it would sure be nice to see more consistency and continued growth rather than regression.

I disagree with your assessment of him "not giving a shit".

He's just very frustrated. He was a very arrogant young man and Byron Scott is really pushing his buttons. This is the same way he developed David West into the mean-spirited tough-nosed player that he is today. I've made the comparison before and will do so again. Once David West figured out how to channel all of his rage at Scott towards the basketball court, there was no looking back. At the time, it fractured their relationship and David West helped lead a crusade to run him out of town. Now, David West has realized what Scott did for him and from the way I've seen them interact towards each other since he was fired, and there is a high level of respect there.

It's a progression and it's not easy to do with a guy like JJ who is so young and still so arrogant and very far behind on a developmental curve because of the teams and coaches he's had the past few years. Byron is very close to "breaking him" and when it happens there's going to be an explosion.

And as I've said, the Cavs have every reason to be patient with this one no matter how impatient fans may be(throwing out damning generalizations and conclusions about him after 8 games and then drastically changing those same conclusions after 8 more).
