He's a great coach, James Jones has been a terrible GM
I mean, he's officially been the GM since April 11th. So to say he's been a terrible GM in 13 days seems a little much, no?
He has been the interim GM with another man since October, so here's an article evaluating all the moves since he's been one of the two GM's..

A couple of the moves I really like.
- He was not the one that signed Ariza in the offseason, but was able to flip him for essentially Oubre, a young wing with potential who is a RFA. Considering Ariza was a 1 year rental, they can perhaps turn Oubre into something.
- Unloaded Ryan Anderson's god awful contract. And while they acquired Tyler Johnson's hefty contract, it's slightly smaller and he only has 1 year left, making him an expiring this year. Even with that, Tyler Johnson fits a need at PG and actually had decent stats for the Suns before going down with an injury. Anderson was not a fit for Phoenix or even Miami for that matter, he's god awful now days. Tyler Johnson is AT LEAST serviceable.
- The only move that was really questioned was the buyout of Tyson Chandler. Some think he 'did a favor' for his buddy LeBron to pair him up in LA.... But how did that work out? Chandler could have easily told PHO that he'd only go to the Lakers and just sit out for any other team he went to..... Chandler being from LA, my bet is that is what happened. And the Lakers still didn't make the playoffs with him so what did it really matter?
All I'm saying it, it's WAY too early in Jones tenure to label him as a bad GM. He very well may be, but you have nowhere near enough examples to prove such a claim. Let's see how he does with this draft, offseason, and coaching hire, and we'll re-evaluate from there.
