Josh Gordon discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah...Josh Gordon set the team and organization back :chuckle:

So it wasn't the 15 years of poor drafting, incompetent front office, and bad coaching hires?

Browns knew Gordon's history when he was drafted. They knew he was a major risk. Gordon is 100% responsible for his actions, but the Browns drafted him knowing he'd been kicked off two teams in less than two years. What do you expect at that point?
Certainly had a hand in it and the failures

I've seen the guy almost single handily win games by himself

Probably the player with the most impact I've seen on this team in my life. A guy who I could argue had the talent of Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson and others.

Yet his head was so far up his ass? This is where we are.

Had we had a guy of the character of AT LEAST a JR Smith in terms of self discipline, commitment of the team? We're not having this conversation.

So by this logic, if I decide to eat two Big Mac's a day for 6 months and proceed to gain 100 lbs, I suppose the Big Mac's are to blame? If I walk into oncoming traffic and get hit by a car, it must have been the car's fault?

The failure of this team has been a rushed effort to get this team put back on the field, measures put in place by owners ensuring that the 1996 Jaguars/Panthers never happened again and a continue rot that has never been fully established since that moment.

It could also be argued that had guys like William Green, Kellen Winslow, Braylon Edwards and others players of their ilk had just...the tiniest lick of common sense? We're likely talking about a decent franchise, not a dumpster fire.

But it could also be argued that actual, functioning organizations know how to corral those types of figures rather than letting their cancer spread to the locker room, themselves..and we're left to continue onto this terrible carousel of mediocrity.

People like the figures I just typed? Do play for other teams. The Steelers have guys like that on their team. It may shock you, but yes, that team has their own mix of people who are idiots. The difference is, that for whatever reason, their culture has been consistently good since the 1970. I imagine you STILL have guys in their front office that were around when Terry Bradshaw was slinging passes to Swann and Stalworth.

Lol, Josh Gordon isn't even worth the time to debate. Fuck him.

I say play him then trade him.. this is the year.. expectations are pretty low, you have a rookie qb..

You let him in, with specific plays in mind, use him on high pressure win or lose plays.. he makes the catch, he has a new career, and we have a trade asset., if he drops it, then nothing lost..

Agreed. Gordon will be on a zero tolerance level of scrutiny. If he can resurrect his career then he becomes a tangible asset worth at least a decent draft pick. Throwing that away for no reason would be a bad move.

How are they going to play a suspended player?

I don't think he will have much of a market beyond a conditional draft pick even if he does come back and play well. And if they Browns decide to immediately waive him I'm ok with that too.

If he doesn't play at all or doesn't play well, then we'll move on.
If he plays well and there isn't much of a market for him, then it follows that he wouldn't be that expensive to retain.
If he plays well and there is a big market for him, then we'll likely trade him.

Browns fans should be rooting for Gordon the player, if he gets reinstated. I'll never love the guy, but I'm certainly hoping he comes back to be a demon on the field for the Browns, although at this point, I can't say that I'm optimistic that this will happen.
