JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As unfortunate as this news is, this still puts him back in early March.

It stinks to lose JR, but it's a blessing in disguise.

Liggins is going to get burn, they are going to buy-out Mo, and we will add an additional wing scorer that we need with our minuscule assets that we have. Perhaps Gilbert was considering saving money and eating the TPE's, and now his hand is forced.

Come playoff time, we will be better for this. For 12 weeks, it sucks. At least it happened now and not March 1st.
It puts him back in mid to late March.

I'm with everyone else about the frustration of this team having to deal with this type of shit way, way more than GS. It's beyond irritating.

I am very concerned about his ability to come back that soon before the playoffs and not have a really disappointing playoffs. Very concerned indeed. To my eyes it took him over 20 games to start to round into the real JR after his holdout. 20 games into the playoffs we are halfway into the finals. No time to wait for that come playoff time. This just sucks.

I'm convinced the Warriors players are all using peds. They are friggin Lebron like now, they never get injured.
You have Draymond Green who was damn fat

He now kicks balls on a regular basis and has 24/7 roid rage. He also suddenly has crazy athleticism..

Then you have Stephen Curry that suddenly doesn't get injured and his ankles are like new. He also got bigger (yeah I know) but he was skinnier.

for 3 straight years they have had no real injury, none of their players is ever injured. I'm calling the damn FBI.

Atleast let Kyrie have some of this. (sorry for the off-topic)

The Warriors have the most robust analytics program in sports.

Players are monitored during practice and in games to determine if they are favoring any part of their bodies or if their explosiveness dips. Their workload is then adjusted accordingly.

They don't get hurt because the staff recognizes when a player may be susceptible to injury well ahead of time.

As much as I hate the personalities of their players, the Warriors are truly a first-class organization.

He must have torn a ligament. Talk about a fucking freak injury/ bad luck. Has GS even had anyone turn a fucking ankle yet?

Luckily we'll get him back in time for the playoffs.

But that news just really hurt Gilberts wallet and Cedi Osman's dream of playinng with LeBron.
I still don't see Cedi having enough value to get us a capable wing.

If he can get back by March 10th that would be ideal. That will give close to 20 games which is the equivalent of going into early December from the start of the season. Plenty of time then to get his rhythm and game shape. Later then that and we could be in trouble.

I don't see how Osman isn't gone at the trade deadline unless Dunleavy recent hot form stay hot and gets a lot hotter

huh....

i guess i was just off.

i hate being right about this
You happened to be right, but it appears to be because of ligament damage.

Surgery could have been as simple as speeding up the natural recovery and inserting pins, which would have kept him on the same 4-6 week timeline.

Appears JR was very unlucky.

When I read that time table for his return, I was shocked. Better to happen now that later on, wishful thinking is that it never happened, but knowing how motivated Smith seems to be now...I wouldn't put it past him to come back guns blazing.

Youre correct but the fact he required surgery in general was worrisome. Normal fractures generally dont require such. The fact that any surgery was required raises my suspicion that this wasnt just a simple break. I could have just as easily been wrong, but being as the cavs weren't the ones guessing a time frame hinted pretty strongly there was the potential for more damage

I'd put Cedi's current value somewhere around the 22-26th pick in the first round. The fact that he was a second rounder makes him slightly more valuable as well, he's not locked into a guaranteed rookie scale deal which just got bumped up 40% I believe in the CBA.

That + TPE should be plenty to get one solid role player at one of our three positions of need. I think the best bet is to trade for the wing, and try the current FA /D league pool / upcoming buyout pool to sign a PG and a C.

PJ Tucker is the guy I am zeroed in on. Griffin has his Phoenix connections, the Suns would probably be more interested in a European dude than most teams just how it's been historically, and Sarver is always down to save some money and they're in a rebuild.

Bingo.

We appear to be on the same page all over this thread today.

Tucker was a target last year, but this year makes him that much more attainable. He's 31, in a contract year, and he honestly isn't having a good offensive season shooting only 37% from the floor.

With Phoenix having a surplus of young guards/wings that need time, and the newly acquired Dudley filling a veteran role, this is literally the cheapest Tucker could ever be to get for us, even with our limited assets. Frankly, why wouldn't they trade him to get anything? It's a deal so good, you can't afford NOT to.

He will have suitors, but he fits our club "Liiiike a glooooovvveee" as Ace Ventura would say.

Great wing defender, heady player, solid-enough shooter. What he would give us in terms of backcourt defense would go a long way against teams we hope to play down the line. I'd argue that if you acquire Tucker, he starts at the 2 based off of fit with our starters and JR comes off the bench the rest of this season.

Well March 10th is 10-11 weeks away and they are saying 12-14 weeks of recovery, so we could well be in trouble.
