JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This dude was definitely hung over last night.

This guy has me more worried than anybody else.

Let's hope he stops giving up on plays defensively and realizes it's actually okay to attack offensively.

Playing with that starting unit has to help him a little offensively. But on defense omg he needs to pick it up like 12 notches.

I agree.

I've totally given up hope on Shumpert. But JR Smith has just flat looked lost on defense at times.

Here's hoping.

I just think JR is going through a lot. With the situation with his baby and coming off an injury unfortunately he might be not focused. Right now we need his offensive more than ever. If he doesn't bring it I don't see the Cavs getting close to the level they were last year. It would help if Lue used Deron at the shooting guard when JR is struggling instead of Shumpert.

Or we could lean more on Korver, but we'd be losing JR's athleticism on the defensive end.

I too am most worried about JR; even if he's shooting it relatively well he just doesn't seem "there" at all.

JR hasn't showed up hardly at all this season. Before and after the injury. He could be a difference maker in any and all of the series, even at 85 - 90 % of his best but I dont see it happening really. I like the guy too but him and Shump will be gone next year. They got paid and got their ring. They don't care about another ring because in their minds one is enough.

I smell a bet.

We couldn't get rid of JR if we wanted to. No team would have paid him close to what we paid him and they're certainly not going to let us unload his contract without giving up assets in return (see: Knicks).

For better or worse we're stuck with him.

I will gladly give him a pass for what he's gone through the last few months. Korver should be enough insurance for the SG position.

Next year, he better come ready to play.

Yeah, it's not going to be easy to trade a guy locked in long term at $15 million per year who averaged 8 PPG on 35% shooting and is on the wrong side of 30.
One of the reasons I was against this has been his vocal attitude about his salary and 'getting paid'. His head has always been on the money. When Lin got paid on the Knicks there was an anonymous teammate complaining about how guys had been in the nba for so long and hadn't gotten paid. Was sure he was one of those voices. Even in an interview at the start of last season he clearly said 'pay me like tristan or Kyrie (can't remember who he refered to) and I'll play that way' or something to that effect. I don't know why LeBron sided this guy to get paid 15 million when he would have been playing in China if not for us.

In an era where people are taking paycuts to play with talent, we're overpaying for our own roleplayers. He better earn that paycheck this postseason

I'm looking forward to Jr getting on the same page defensively as he was last post season. Might need a horror reel though like last time

I'm not giving him a pass for the playoffs. We need him. He's making almost $15 million a year and this is showtime. No excuses.
