JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I will gladly give him a pass for what he's gone through the last few months. Korver should be enough insurance for the SG position.

Next year, he better come ready to play.
He's our starting SG. We need him this year, not next year.

People don't grant Frye the same leniency and he's a role player not paid like a starter.

Should i point out jr smith made 12.5 not 15 or is this one of those it doesnt really matter how much he actually made arguments?

Shall I point out that our team has invested $57 million in JR, not $12.5 million, or is this one of it doesn't matter how much we have actually committed to him financially type arguments?

It is the one and only problem you have when LBJ is on your team. If you are one of his boys, you have the Cavs by the balls and he is going to get you overpaid, especially when you switch to his agency.

Iman got paid and stopped trying 2 years ago. He has no value to this team in the playoffs. You can ignore him offensively as he is either going to brick a jumper or turn it over and his calling card defense is a joke. He will run himself into a pick even if the opponent is not trying to set one.

TT got paid and continued to work his a&& off last year, but whether it was winning the championship or Khloe, or some combination of the two, he has not played at the same high energy, active level he has played at his entire career. TT outworked everyone and that has not been the case this year.

JR worries me. He showed up out of shape and has looked awful pretty much all year, especially defensively.

Other than LBJ, he has been our only true 2-way player. A guy who has shown he can fill it up and has the athleticism to play good hard-nosed defense. He should be the one guy the Cavs can use to spell LBJ with on PG.

JR and TT are the key to the Cavs playoff run. They both need to turn it up 3 or 4 notches.

I wish I could say I was 100 percent confident it would happen, but I do have some reservations. Here is hoping they both squash them.

One of the reasons I was against this has been his vocal attitude about his salary and 'getting paid'. His head has always been on the money. When Lin got paid on the Knicks there was an anonymous teammate complaining about how guys had been in the nba for so long and hadn't gotten paid. Was sure he was one of those voices. Even in an interview at the start of last season he clearly said 'pay me like tristan or Kyrie (can't remember who he refered to) and I'll play that way' or something to that effect. I don't know why LeBron sided this guy to get paid 15 million when he would have been playing in China if not for us.

In an era where people are taking paycuts to play with talent, we're overpaying for our own roleplayers. He better earn that paycheck this postseason

Thought JR had a solid defensive game today. PG didn't pile up all the points on him. Maybe that's why he was tentative on the offensive side. He passed up some opportunities, and he should be wide open if he gets any time with Korver.

Thought JR had success putting it on the floor tonight. Need more of that. It will.help him.find his rhythm as well as produce good shots for others off the ball. Even though that pass to Kyrie was a little.errant, it was a great play otherwise and would have gotten us a good shot

His three ball will come . It's going to be less so in this series with him having to deal with George. That's not like chasing Klay around or defending DeRozan. George is a top ten player and a true big game performer and has the physical edge. JR did a hell of a job for the most part.

how about i educate you, since you clearly have no understanding of JRs contract.

so this year he makes 12.5 million
next year 13.7
and the year after that 14.7

All of those are pretty fair amounts for the starting shooting guard of an NBA champion. But whats really interesting is over that time he never makes 15 million a year. huh. seems like someone around here mentioned that number. ..... :detective:

Also lets add those numbers up. 3 years for 41 million dollars... well that seems like a huge difference from 57. wouldnt you think?

Oh right the last year of his contract how could you forget. its a partially guaranteed team option. With a guarentee of 4 million, and a team option of another 12 to hold on top him. So really its almost like the cavs actually had some fuckign idea what they were doing, because his actual contract is 3 years for 41 million. Its almost like all of the numbers youve been making up have been completely and totally bullshit.

But lets get back to the point in hand. JR is flat out the best defending Guard on this team. He is a huge reason the cavs won game 7, and despite the fact that he tore a ligament in his hand, had a 3 month premature kid to emotionally handle, has still fought back to once again claim being a starter.

look you can make up every excuse to hate JR you want, but at the end of the day its obvious he gives his all out on that court which is a lot more than you can say about a lot of those guys.

True. Gotta respect the dude he's been through a lot and so has Frye, don't forget he lost both parents this past winter.

I think part of the problem is playing him too many mins. Then again you need him out there because he's the only other two way player.

If Lue could properly use Korver and yes Shump then it would allow for JR to be that gunner we need.

Right now he's pacing himself out there cause he knows he has to play 40 mins.

TT, JR and Shump are actually fair value for today's NBA.

I mean you're not wrong. If TT had held out till the following season some other team could have offered him 20 million plus but was he actually going to risk holding out for another year? Was JR going to get 12 to 15m on any other team? Smart title contending teams try to get players below their market value to have more room to fit more talent

Value is subject not just to the market but also the relative bargaining positions of the negotiating parties

Left hamstring injury.

Big setback for us if he's out for long.

Is he gonna be OK? If not, how long is he gonna be out and who are we activating?

From McMenamin:

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Cavaliers guard JR Smith left Game 2 of the Cavs' first-round series against the Indiana Pacers at halftime Monday with a left hamstring injury and did not return.

After the game, a 117-111 Game 2 win, Smith said he did not require an MRI and said he hopes to play in Game 3.

"If they let me play, I'll play," Smith said. "My leg ain't broke."

Iman Shumpert, who did not play in the Cavs' 109-108 Game 1 win, started the second half in Smith's place.

Smith praised Shumpert for filling in, describing his second half play as "great."

"He did a hell of a job on the defensive end, came in and made a big shot for us," Smith said. "He did what he was supposed to do."

Smith finished with three points on 1-for-3 shooting and one turnover in 19 minutes, while Shumpert had five points in 20 minutes.

Smith said he wanted to go back into Monday's game, but the team held him out.

"I wanted to play, they didn't want me to play," Smith said as he walked out of the arena without a noticeable limp.
