JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He's volatile, we know that. Hot or cold, we never know what JR we're going to get. But there's no denying his heart and character - he is Cleveland. And regardless of the criticism he'll receive for how he started the series, how can we not love him for just being JR?

I just came here to say that JR Smith was the definition of Cleveland tonight. Hard working, blue collar, sharp individual whom never fucking gave up and clocked out at the final bell.

I love you JR, and If I ever see you at Wal-Mart again I'm giving you a goddamn hug. Straight up.

Why can't he be a consistent 15-19ppg guy? I understand he won't always shoot 7-8 from 3 but why can't he get 4 threes a game?

Because he's a role player. And there's nothing wrong with that. You need role players like him who can step up big from time to time. Expecting all-star level performance out of him on a night-to-night basis is unrealistic.

And 4 threes a game? You know how many players in the history of the NBA have averaged 4 threes a game for even just one season?

Exactly 1 - Stephen Curry in 2014-15.

That's why JR can't do it. Because it's nearly impossible to do.

Just not enough shots to go around to keep him ticking, ended up shooting 50% on less than 6 shots a game in the Playoffs.

Thank you for games 3,4,5 Mr Smith. I know it was a hard year for you. I hope to see you guns blazing in October.

His family life settled down, healthy kids, injuries healed, and no holdout for next year.
I expect we'll see this game 5 version of JR next year.

Okay 3 isn't unrealistic and then some driving plays he should get 15ppg

First off lack of shot opportunities. Making four 3pt buckets a game means he is probably shooting close to ten 3s a game. Making four 3s a game would also be double his career average and better than his peak when he was winning 6th man of the year and averaging 18ppg. Making four 3s a game is like Klay Thompson level production from deep. Steph was making just over four threes a game this year. You are pretty much asking JR to be a borderline all-star level player.

Without even looking this up I can say this isn't true. Curry's done it more than once and I'm fairly certain Klay Thompson has too.

EDIT: No, Thompson didn't manage to get there last year. But Curry has done it more than once.

Agree with everything you said, but Curry has done it twice. 5.1 in 15/16 & 4.1 in the season just gone
