JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Holland was +10 in 28 minutes. Played good D, and hit the boards. Didn't shoot well, but he is clearly our 2 guard of the future...
Holland looked like some streetballer who can't control himself.
In fact the whole game against the Suns looked like a playground game.

Something is off about this

If ty was against it and it was kobys decision he could easily go to jr and say "this is what theyre doing bro". None of this really matches up.

I totally agree. Is there any actual news article or tweet from any reporter indicating that this was management's decision? I would imagine that sort of thing would leak very quickly.

I think it was TitleTown who said this, but my guess is that Ty is just being a good soldier and that it was a directive from management. Maybe Ty didn't want to get caught up in the middle or have an uncomfortable conversation with someone he actually sides with in JR but also didn't want to be appear unprofessional by telling JR it was Koby's decision. Reason for this is JR probably wouldn't keep his mouth shut if Lue trusted him with the info so he didn't feel the need to have "more dialog."

This would mean he is acting from a position of professionalism and texting Jr he lost his spot woyld contradict that

Yeah I agree, texting JR about the decision was a weak half measure. He could've just done his job, looked at the numbers and realized JR is not starter material without management giving him the directive but we're talking about Lue here. JR acting entitled, despite his on/off court performance this year, annoys me more than Lue texting him to be honest.

Even if its the case and Dan/Koby are basically telling Lue what to do now, I can't imagine he'll ever share this type of information with his players or anybody else.

Likely one of those things that Koby didn't directly order, but very strongly suggested, and Lue agreed. If Lue then told JR he was actually against it and was only doing it because he was ordered, he might have created a worse problem for himself.

So instead, he took the coward's way out and said nothing.

I'm just happy JR isn't starting anymore. It's been obvious all season that he shouldn't be starting and his minutes need to be reduced heavily.

I think almost all of us agree and recognize that Smith should have been benched long ago. Nonetheless, Lue's handling of it just shows again his lack of competence as a coach. Besides Smith's account, apparently Korver was oblivious to the change as well:

“I have no idea what’s going on. I don’t know if this is a one-game thing,” Korver said. “I really have no idea. I told Ty I’m ready to do whatever he needs, just tell me before the game starts. So tonight, I think with Rodney still out, just trying a couple new things, but I’m not making much of it.”

Great job, Ty. Way to lead your team as coach.

NY Post is a tabloid not fit to line a bird cage.

That is actually a not very thinly veiled criticism of Lue. Korver obviously is enough of a veteran to know that the coach should be communicating better, and he just made it public that he isn't.

That's embarassing.

It's perfectly understandable for Lue to tell JR he's benched via text message.

He just didn't want to have soup thrown at him.
