JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I was under the impression the cap space would really be available the summer of 2020, not 2019.
Zion, Sexton and another lottery pick in 2020. That’s three with Cedi, Zizic, Nance and the cap room.

Yeah 2020 is really when we have cap space. My point was it didn't hurt to add salary for next season if it meant we got assets. I think it would be premature to try to get a free agent this summer.

I'm convinced that The Bullshit Whisperer simply regurgitates what he reads on this forum.

In any event, like I postulated a few pages back, a deal between the Rockets and Cavs centered around JR makes a lot of sense for both sides. I hope it gets consummated and we extract an asset or two out of it.

I'm wondering if there is any chance that they try to get Hood or Dekker.

I would think they will try to add Dekker to JR and give us Chriss to add to Melo and Knight. Dekker is better than anyone they can pick up on the free agent market right now.

As for Hood, they might be interested but I doubt Hood would sign off. Hood should want to go to a team that will have cap space in the summer to pay him. His situation here is better than Houston for him. We still are giving as many shots as he wants. In Houston he would be a 3rd or 4th option on the floor at best.

Actually you are right on the QO they wouldn't have his rights so would only be able to pay Hood the taxpayer MLE I think. Dekker has to be appealing for them especially since he has had a minor bounce back with the cavs.

I have no clue how the front office values Dekker. Personally, if he is sweetener to get us a 1st round pick, I include him. I think we have enough hustle/energy type guys in TT, Nance, Cedi, and Nwaba. We have committed money to Nance who needs to develop to be our backup PF and Nwaba should get the backup SF minutes so I don't see a place for Dekker unless we plan to move Love.

The only time I have really liked him in the lineup was when he was playing with Cedi and the defense was improved. WE have a better version of that now with Nwaba though. No doubt he has more impact than Dekker.

That's nice actually.

Makes you wonder if Burks isn't what the Rockets might want instead. I wish they had more assets. Maybe then we could send JR and Burks.
Not sure it will work, but I was hoping we could move JR & Clarkson or JR & Hood for Knight. I know Hood would have to ok and it would have to be after Monday.
