LoL at the cognitive dissonance

If a person has a right to a view they are permitted to express it in prose however they please.

If you are offended by words on a screen that were clearly meant in jest and not directed at you personally in any context maybe you should put down the phone or turn off the pc and take a break instead of taking it as a personal insult then trying police the language of others.

This also begs the rhetorical question as to why are you attempting to get people to self-censor because that just comes off as authoritarian concern trolling by saying there are words that people can't use regardless of context.

What are you even talking about ?

You made a post quoting someone who was making fun of TV show.

The quoted post wasn't talking to, about or replying to you. In this post you tell people they aren't allowed to use certain words because they offend you, this had nothing to do with the thread topic.

Then when someone else disagrees by saying people are allowed to use any words they like and the thread should stay on the topic of JR Smith you now want to try to frame it in a way that makes you look like a victim.

I also reiterate since this conversation has nothing to do with the thread topic if you want to reply use PM's

You have the right to say what you want as long as you accept the opposing right to call you out for your ignorant reference. No one is talking about punishment other than in the court of public opinion for people who sound dumb aka those who throw in casual misogyny or remarks insulting the developmentally disabled. You didn't need to say that to make a point and it shows a lack of awareness. I don't think KB actually made the statement you originally quoted.

I get that some believe that too many people are too easily offended nowadays. Personally, I think that can be true in some instances. I also think that - probably more often - people are appropriately called out on their ignorance, bigotry, or lack of intelligence nowadays. To use the example from this thread, how hard is it to say "Why doesn’t it surprise me that jr watches that retarded show for retarded people" differently? I mean either you're 12 years old or younger, or your vocabulary or maturity are seriously lacking. I say this as someone who was not personally offended, but can understand how someone could be, especially if someone you care about has an intellectual/developmental disability.

This post is an example of missing the point entirely as well as just getting some things incorrect

Lets go over it again

A different poster who wasn't me made the initial joke about a TV show in reference to a JR smith tweet. (no one mentioned women in anyway so I'm not sure why you're citing misogyny, this just comes off as an intellectual dishonest way to frame the conversation since no one said anything about women)

Another poster quoted it saying I'm offended, don't use this word, which has nothing to do with the thread topic.

I responded to the 2nd post with the pic you quoted and then again stating that people are free to say whatever they want however they want without punishment because censorship of any kind is not acceptable. Punishment in the court of public opinion is an attempt to force censorship through peer pressure.

I've not asked anyone to stop doing what they've been doing or refrain from using certain words. I in fact invited people to carry on the conversation in PM's since it's not related to the thread topic. I've not directly attacked any one either by calling them dumb, ignorant or accusing them of being in a glass house nor am I offended. I actually find this to be really funny.

On a side note did you know that the word "dumb" was originally used as a medical term meaning unable to speak or mute. Hence the saying "Deaf, Dumb and Blind" which was used both as a legal and medical phrase. (Similar in origin to the medical term "idiot" which was later replaced by "retard")

Taking the above knowledge from the last paragraph into account it begs the question didn't you just betray your own values and commit the same sin as the original poster who made fun of the TV show due to your use of the word dumb in your post ?
