Useless player! He is an overrated rebounder that gets only easy defensive rebounds a please how many offensive rebounds did he have in this series? his defense suck and he is scary to play down there in the post! He even will be more useless if we get to the finals vs the gsw where he always plays like a little white scared girl! Trade his white fat ass already and Im tired to see him win the ring without any credit.

Is this guy serious?

Game 1: 5-13
Game 2: 4-9 (21 minutes)
Game 3: 6-9
Game 4: 2-7

One bad game. Trade him

Of all things to hate on, people are even saying he only gets the easy rebounds?

His timing is near impeccable and uses his body and fundamentals to outrebound ravenous athletes on the defensive glass.

You gotta give him a little props if we're going to trade him for a star player down the line. "Hey, I know he only grabs easy rebounds and is soft and fat and such, but can we get Paul George?"

Love has actually been outstanding defensively this postseason:
-.781 points per possession as the big defender on a PnR action (top 30% in the playoffs).
-.571 points per possession defending isolations (best for a big in the playoffs).

If Love can defend like this then the Warriors (or Spurs) won't be able to run him off the court this season.

Haha even I didn't take it there. I know Love has the potential make a big impact, just want to see it more consistently.

So really, who do you think would fit better with our team? Serious question. Hell Ryan Anderson makes almost as much as Love. His contract is very friendly under the new CBA. He frustrates me too, but I am not sure who we could get who provides elite rebounding and floor spacing.

I'm very much intrigued by Otto Porter and I think he very underrated. Washington have Porter and Oubre and Porter is due for an extension this summer and Oubre the year after.
I woudln't be opposed to trading Love for Porter+something. In a vacuum that seems good for Washington but they already have Markieff as their 4 and we are left with a hole at the 4 in the RS.
A lineup of Kyrie, JR, Porter, Lebron, TT is pretty good.

Anyays, Lue when he first became the HC he said that he was going to utilize Love much much more, and here we are when it counts in the playoffs and he is put in an even lesser role than he had under Blatt.. what gives?

Norman Powell was on him in crunch time and he was just standing at the 3pt line. That just can't happen.
I know Kyrie had it going but it was at a point after Kyrie had missed his last two.

How are you going to feel about Otto Porter when he's making $30 million/year, and he's making us a less talented team?

Worse.. but I believe he is going to improve a lot. He has improved each and every year. I really don;t think he makes the Cavs a less talented team, quite the opposite.
We lose rebounding and that's big but we gain even better shooting, better defense, quickness on the perimeter, better fast break potentia, we get younger and potentially match up better with GSW. Love isn't being utlized and it sucks but the contract difference like you said makes it less realistic if he does get that kind of money.

If we have issues matching up with GS due to Durant, there are going to be some much cheaper options via free agency that we wouldn't have to waste a Love trade on. I could see us targeting RCF's long coveted Sefolosha and i can see him taking a discount so he can compete for a championship.

If Love proves unplayable in a series loss to GS, i could see him being moved but i'd prefer to target a guard vs. a forward. You still want to give Lebron the flexibility to play both SF/PF. I don't think Porter's potential would be maximized as our team's currently constructed.

After seeing the impact he had on our rebounding, and how pivotal good rebounding is to us having a good defense, I can't imagine trading Love could make us a better team. Plus, we were short on bigs this year even when Love was in the lineup, so trading him for a wing seems like a risky proposition. Does a LeBron/Tristan/Frye big man rotation really look like it can get us through June?

With Love on the court, we were a good rebounding team. With him off the court, we were literally the worst. His rebounding and outlet passes, along with his ability to shoot from the trail post position, are extremely valuable to a fast break team. Just because a guy is more perimeter oriented, doesn't mean they will help us run more.

Obviously we can't do that trade if we don't address PF position somehow. Porter could definitely play as a 2 in the RS and have Lebron play the 3 but we are locked with a pretty bad JR Smith contract so that makes it very unlikely. Love's outlet passes are overrated don't you think? he is extremely gifted at that but it only happens once a game at best. Actually his passing is very overrated as a whole because he is just not being used as one.

Porter helps us become a better fast break team not because you switch a big for a wing, but because he is extremely active as an on-ball defender and he generates steals and plays the passing lanes. He also runs the floor extremely well and fills out the lane and makes him available for the open 3.

Love is very valuable to the Cavs and you could see it when he was injured, his ability to be a 3pt threat and be a good rebounder is rare in the NBA and it's not easy to replace but our ceiling when the playoffs come is higher with Lebron at the 4 and Porter at the 3.
If the Cavs somehow find a decent replacement for Love then I would be all for it but if they don't then you are right, it's not worth it.

We wouldn't be able to afford Sefolosha, I don't think.
I think Porter is a better fit than strictly a guard.. why do we need a guard for? we are stacked at that position. Porter could play the 4 for stretches aswell with Lebron at the 5.
He is very versatile and I think he is going to be an All-Star soon enough.

When I talk about outlet passes, I'm not talking about the TD passes that make the highlight reel. I guess I just don't agree with your overall assessment of the trade-off between the two.

You're right though, very slim chance we'd ever have the chance to find out which one of us is correct, so it's best to just move on.
