Great article - it's one of the reasons i disliked one of the criticisms of Sashi. "He's young, doesn't have enough experience...." Whatever other criticisms may be valid, that one sucked. Some young guys may not be ready, but some may be prodigies that you're lucky to get.

If Alexander the Great could lead a successful invasion of the greatest empire in the world at the age of 24, I don't think 35 is too young to run a freaking basketball team.

One thing I “disliked” about the article is it did not talk about Altman’s experience with the analytics movement. He was a basketball coach and has a deep understanding of the game. Additionally, he understands the new role of math in basketball. I love this choice, and even if LBJ leaves, have faith that Altman can do good work.

While I knew IT was garbage even at his Boston best, this is not Altman’s fault. David Griffin should still be here. Gilbert is terrible at everything he does.

I’d wait til past the deadline to hate on Koby. IT better be gone...

Griffin the dude who gave TT jr and Shump those huge contracts. Then doubled down on all offense no defense last year and traded for Korver? Yeah fuck that guy too.
 
Altman may have the tile of GM but all he really is to this organization at the moment is Dan's assistant that does all the legwork of talking to other teams and finding available deals but any and all major decisions can be attributed to Dan.

He's actually a really smart guy and I think will be a great GM one day but he's not ready yet. Too young/green. Dan easily steamrolls over him anytime a strong disagreement comes about. The Boston deal was Gilbert's baby, not Altmans.
 
Altman you got bamboozled by Boston. Swallow your pride and atone for your mistakes - please trade everything’s we got from Boston
 
Especially if Gilbert sells, he is more in control then ever in terms of front office action. That said, if Lebron is leaving no matter what and even Kemba/players they can get for the BKN pick would not entice him to stay long term, I can see why nothing will happen this deadline. Gilbert has to protect his assets before the sale.
