Kyrie Irving
Richard Jefferson

for

Patrick Beverley
Corey Brewer
rights to the Rockets' 2017 1st round pick

Gives us a point guard who actually gives a shit about playing TEAM basketball and defense (although technically we already have that in Delly)
Gives us another athletic wing player
Gives us a future draft pick
Gives Morey another chance to make headlines by acquiring an All-Star

Maybe waive Jared Cunningham and have them throw in Clint Capela (solves our Mozgov offseason problem as well).

Cratylus if you weren't such a pretty girl I would be mad at your right now

This thread is still alive?

Jesus. Watch Kyrie ball the fuck out tonight and you'll all come back in and apologize right?

I'd trade him tomorrow for Crowder and Thomas.

He's a poor man's Iverson--he's peaked.

He's a poor man's Iverson--he's peaked.

While I don't have it in me to like this post, I do feel his game's gotten very close to Iverson's. With a better shooting stroke but less than half the durability.

He still has a chance to tailor his game so he doesn't need the ball to be effective. But at this rate, once LeBron's done here, he needs more balance...

Otherwise, I could see him being moved for someone like Chris Paul... and I wouldn't care that much...

While I've always been fairly critical of Kyrie, I've also always wanted to keep the kid because he's so talented and still young. Plus, he did well last season, his first year contributing to a winning team.

But at this point I would be in favor of trading him for Paul. CP3 may be older, but I doubt Kyrie ever reaches the level Paul is at right now, and this speaks more of how good CP3 is. Any team that has him immediately becomes one of the best offenses in the league. Plus, he's one of the best defenders at the PG position and would make Curry's life pretty much as difficult as any player can, during a potential Finals matchup. Imagine how easily Tristan would score off of his oops if the Delly-Tristan oops are already so deadly? Imagine the Paul-LeBron PnR... CP3 would get LeBron the easiest baskets in his career.

I just think we desperately need some high IQ players on this team, and Chris Paul DEFINITELY provides that.

I know it sounds like we're "throwing away our future" in swapping a 23 year old for a 30 year old, but I don't think a lot of opponents of such a trade realize the urgency we have to win a title. LeBron is not getting any younger. The decline is already well in effect and at some point not so far away, it won't matter how good Kyrie becomes or how much future career value he has left, because we won't be able to win a title with an aged LeBron anyways. We need to contend RIGHT NOW. Golden State's core has a bunch of players in their mid-20s. Curry at 27 is the oldest guy and he should be able to keep this up for a while. They're headed to become a dynasty. I'd rather maximize my chances of winning a title now (because let's be honest this current group as constructed isn't good enough), rather than betting on my chances of winning a title in the future.

Kyrie was not the reason for the loss last night and I saw improvement.

I'd trade for paul, but theoretically it's easier to tell a guy to play the right way then realign two superstars and teams.

Man I'd love to see Chris over here though

Grats on the golden PP

I agree with this post and it's not because I don't like Kyrie. If he could just get his 3 pointer back he will be a real force. It's just that I don't see Kyrie + Love alone ever being a combo that brings a title, even if they keep you in the playoffs consistently, and that makes each year of Lebron absolutely crucial. The bottom line is that Paul will be better than Kyrie for those crucial remaining years of Lebron's window, and once Lebron is done we are probably not going to be a championship team.

With that said, I don't see the Clippers trading Paul for Kyrie, and I wouldn't trade Kyrie for any other PG that I can think of who might be available.

everyone here wants instant success.. curry had all these concerns during his first 6 years in the league.. chucker, no defense, injury-prone.. but the warriors built the team to cover curry's deficiencies..

i wouldnt want to trade kyrie.. what i would like to see is for the coaching staff to mold him to a better and smarter player.. teach him.. it's easier to teach a talented player.. yes, he'll have issues early on, but that's the learning curve.. dont give up on him yet.. he has an uncanny ability to score.. the cavs need that..

lbj preached about the process.. let's trust the process.. they have been playing together barely a year with all the injuries and coaching changes.. build consistency and continuity and we'll probably see a better product on the court.. rome wasnt built in a day..

It's hard to not laugh when I see someone call kyrie a future mvp or a mvp caliber player. He will never be a mvp caliber player. The whole non sense started from lebron saying that... And lebron is an atrocious talent evaluator.

While I think he has some talent, I feel he is greatly overrated and so is his potential.
