He’s a bridge QB. .
Maybe, maybe not. He's 28 and has made a Pro Bowl, was 16th ranked passer in QB rating last year. Tom Brady played until 40.

Nothing you said is wrong, but it doesn’t really address my point.
The odds of Tyrod Taylor, an unrestricted free agent to be, being the Browns starting QB in 2019 are extremely slim.
He’s a bridge QB. If all they want him to do is keep the seat warm until a rookie is ready to go, doesn’t it stand to reason that they could have just kept the pick and signed a free agent to accomplish the same thing?
If feels like they spent a third round pick to squeeze out an extra win or two in 2018 and that’s it.
Just feels like a rich price to pay.
I broke this down a couple of weeks ago. As far as successful top pick/ first round QBs go the successful ones were starting by the start if year 2. The only exceptions, 2 maybe 3, were backing up pro bowl QBs. If taylor becomes a probowl QB, something went so well there is no need to put in the drafted rookie. However assuming he doesnt become a pro bowl qb, if the guy being drafted isnt starting by game 1 of year 2 something went horribly wrongI mean...
If you think Tyrod Taylor is going to A. Be so good that he keeps a No. 1 overall pick on the bench for multiple seasons or B. Be willing to backup or even compete with said No. 1 at just 29 years old after four consecutive years of starting, then I don’t know what to tell you.
Whoever the Browns draft at No. 1 - be it Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield, even Allen is going to be your starting QB in 2019.

Isn't that crazy?Agreed. I mean we drafted Grandpa Weeden who was older as a rookie than Taylor is now for Christ's sake.

Depends how this team does. If it has a very good season, there's a chance we keep Taylor and trade the rook.

Suppose the Browns go 10-6, and make the playoffs. Do you then ditch the guy that took you there, and replace him with a rookie?
I wouldn't be so sure.
