LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I wonder how much he really does care about being number one in scoring. If that was really his goal I'd think he would demand more shots or at least not defer as much to Kyrie and Love.
Its never been brought up, but I know he sees it in reach. He is 11,100 its away from doing it as of today.

If you assume he continues this seasons pace, while only playing 76 games this season, he will be only 9,735 points away.

If that total is divided by 22 ppg (being conservative), he will eclipse the record halfway through a game 442 games from now. That night would happen to be a shade under 5.9 years from now if he plays 75 games a season.

While 38 year old Lebron sounds crazy, keep in mind for every night he goes over 22 points, that is taken off the backend. For every game over 75 games per season, its off the back.

He will do it.

That's silly. LeBron has higher shooting percentages outside the paint than Kobe:

And more clutch:

Good post. I think of Kobe as one of the more overrated players in NBA history, honestly. Not that he isn't a great player but I think he isn't even a top 10 player all time let alone top five.

I think he is the most overrated superstar of all-time, so many missed shots. So many times he missed the open man, blessed with the greatest teammates of all-time. He had great defense though...but over all, like nah man. Look at the Lakers right now with out him....

Kobe was proclaimed what he was for 3 reasons:
1) He was exciting to watch
2) He played for the Lakers
3) He came in as Jordan was leaving. The NBA desperately needed a new face.

And if anyone disagrees with these statements, I point you at one one piece of evidence....a feature video game the same year as averaging 15.4 ppg.

LeBron's definitely one of the most durable guys in the history of the league. Up there with guys like John Stockton, A.C. Green or Robert Parish.

I got curious so I looked at LeBron's regular seasons where his FGAs per game is > 19.7 career average. He averaged 29.12 points with an average usage rating of 32.26. Two of those seasons were 31.4 and 30 ppg with usage ratings of 33.6 and 33.5 respectively.

imo, if LeBron went full 2016-2017 Russell Westbrook with a usage rating of 41 or 2005-2006 Kobe Bryant with a usage rate of 38.7 then I got him calculated at 37 and 34.9 ppg. His 2008-2009 post-season had a usage rating of 36.4 with 35.6 ppg.

It looks like he could average 30+ consistently if he wanted to.

Three things I wish I saw in LeBron's career.

1. A finals vs. Kobe.
2. In 2007 to see him play Phoenix's defense in the finals. Would have been a much better series and I would have liked our chances.
3. Seeing LeBron play in a Mike Dantonio offense.
I remember thinking LeBron could average 32/9/12 if he played in that system.

It's hard to catch up to a guy when the goal posts keeps being moved due to his ever growing myth.

This is true, and it's why it's so incredible that Lebron is even in the conversation with Jordan for GOAT. Chasing a ghost and all that. When you reduce it to numbers, Jordan wasn't a god. But his ghost damn sure is. And, incredibly, you could make a decent argument for Lebron today. Two more titles and things get serious.

The number of games it took each of the Top 9 to reach 27,315 points (the number LeBron is currently at):

9.) LeBron 1,007
8.) Moses 1,302
7.) Shaq 1,099
6.) Dirk 1,217
5.) Wilt 794
4.) M.J 863
3.) Kobe 1,082
2.) Malone 1,046
1.) Kareem 981

Also, leaders through a player's first 1,007 games:

1.) Michael Jordan 30,939
2.) Abdul-Jabbar 27,984
3.) LeBron James 27,315
4.) Karl Malone 26,284
5.) Dominique Wilkins 25,845

He also has the 12th most Assists through a player's first 1,007 games in history.
