LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Such a bullshit request. He's worth the money he makes on this team.

I don't know what you do for a living.. but if you feel you are swamped at work would you cut lets say 1/4 of your pay so they can add a body to ease your work load?

LeBron pays it forward and pours money into the community and youth probably more than any athlete in the world. Dont ask him to take a paycut.
I'm asking him to shut the fuck up about the organization until he starts playing hard. That's what I'm asking.

Lebron "coasting" is still probably the best player in the league and the only reason Cavs are a winning team, so obviously he has more say in it than other members of the organization.

And I'm saying he might be getting tired physically and tired of not having someone to shoulder a few mins at the SF position each night.
I watched the game last night. He came out lazy and disinterested on defense. Chalk it up to exhaustion if you wish.

And again, simply saying "do something" doesn't change the salary rules set forth in each CBA. There is no cap room, the team is way over the tax, and every available draft pick has been used. We can dream up fancy trade scenarios all we want, but the truth is the team around him right now is probably not changing, aside from some minor signing of a minimum contract guy. And there's nothing the organization can do about it now.

He knows this.

Unusual for Lebron to open up like that to the press. I'm not sure what Griff can do, this is the issue of letting assets walk for nothing. Timo is way overpaid but we gave up two first rounders for him and now have nothing to show for it. Dellly also overpaid but again we lost him for zero value.

Just not much Griff can do at this point without completely mortgaging the future. Guys on minimum salaries are likely going to pick places where they have more minutes or better weather/lifestyle so not so easy getting a Felton or Jones to sign here. Only guys you get are ring chasing vets on their last legs.

It is what it is. We needed to get lucky with some internal development.

Agree on most of your words... but on "not much Griff can do at this point without completely mortgaging the future" - why not mortgaging the future?

No he's not. LeBron coasting got fucking smoked by Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant over the last week. If you're offering me coasting LeBron or locked in, out to prove the world wrong Kevin Durant, I'm taking Durant and not looking back.

LeBron is right that the Cavs are worse this year than last year from a personnel standpoint. Don't think he should have said so publicly thought. And I'm not sure there's a realistic move to be made that improves the team.

Yes, classic case of a guy complaining for the sake of complaining.

He truly has to be smart enough to know that our hands are tied. He wants a "playmaker" for help on offense. Sure, we do need one. That is more apt to be solved in the buy-out market. However, we scored 122 points and lost to a shitty team. That doesn't sound like an offense problem. That's a fucking defense problem.

No one is playing defense. Everyone is apathetic. If you guarantee me it will change in the playoffs with more effort, great. But LeBron is picking the wrong avenue to vent his frustration. It just makes everyone look bad.

My real thought? He wants his buddy Carmelo on this team. He has now transitioned to saying we need a "playmaker" instead of a "point guard." The language has changed. I have my suspicions he wants Griffin to deal for Melo, even if it means giving up Love. That would be a terrible move for us, but is LeBron savvy enough to realize that Carmelo isn't the same player he once was?

Lot of assumptions there...especially considering that Griff is the first one who used the term "playmaker"

And this, I think, is right. And I hope the Cavs just tell him no.

Hot Take Tuesday in here....sheesh.

When you give up 36 points to Terrence Jones, you deserve to lose. Our defense was atrocious the entire game. Shit, he had half of those points in the 1st.

Lebron can bitch about whatever he wants...he has earned that right here, IMO. That McMenamim article was a bit odd as all the management-related quotes weren't included in the national interview feed but rather an aside conversation with a select group of media members. I think Lebron is physically fatigued and mentally bored. Not surprising for the league leader in minutes played (and the oldest player in top 40 of minutes played leaders, mind you)

People bitch about our 2nd unit but when you compare it to other benches in the NBA, it holds up pretty well. The problem is they're a bunch of role-players and without someone who can set those players up, we look pedestrian.

If Lebron thinks Melo is the answer, he better be willing to play the 4 the rest of his career here. He better hope that Carmelo learns how to play defense too. I mean he's only been in the league 13+ years now. Perhaps he's just a late bloomer?

The buy-out period can't come soon enough. Our hands are tied until then unless we are willing to move Shumpert. Considering he just put together his most consistent offensive month in his career, that doesn't seem likely.

I know LBJ is blaming personnel... but I think the sloth has more to do with Lue.

Griffin knows this isn't a good time to get low cost trades done: We look desperate. The buyout market hasn't materialized yet. Nobody knows if some team with lots of assets will make a dumb trade.

Also, we only care about the postseason -- as much as this hurts now. If we can get a piece that helps us in the postseason more than the pieces available now, then we should wait.

One solution would be a 10 day contract to get a pair of fresh legs while we wait for the trade markets to materialize. However, I bet Griffin doesn't see anybody on the 10-day market that he likes more than Felder or McRae. Honestly, I don't know what other options would be available (lots of vets are available -- most won't take 10 day non-guaranteed contracts).

So in the meantime, it's on Lue to save our vets legs and find a way to get the rookies some minutes.
