LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You know what would be the biggest fuck you in pro sports history? LeBron leading the Thunder to a title and beating the Durant-led Warriors in the process.

It would almost be worth him leaving Cleveland for...almost.

I'd be rooting for this, except that I live in Idaho, and OKC stole the Sonics, so fuck OKC as a franchise, I'll never root for them to win anything ever. On the bright side, I might have been a stan of the biggest cupcake in sports history had the Sonics survived. Instead, I got to watch and root for the best basketball player ever, and 2016 is my lifetime's sports' highlight.

Apologies, RCF, I want Lebron to finish his career in Cleveland and especially beat this Warriors team before he retires. My hate towards all things OKC and Durant clouded my drafting.

Bill Simmons has been declining in both relevance and substance for some time now, but once he became Kevin Durant's mouthpiece (presumably in exchange for multiple podcast "exclusives" and failed TV show appearances), I started losing respect for Simmons

I need to find the video, but he went on a rant on ESPN after the Cavs won the lotto in 2014.

He threw a temper tantrum over it, and said "We need to change the lottery". I also noticed his Boston bias grew increasingly more obnoxious to boot.

fuck bill simmons .

Except that pretty much all "NBA insiders" have no real access to LeBron nor what his intentions may be in a year.

We don't know what lebron is going to do . No one knew the day he left, and people were still insisting he wasn't coming back the days/weeks leading into it.

Does anyone else find it strange that Melo wanted to be close to his kid yet has Houston as one of two destinations?

In my mind, and I could be wrong, but it would seem to me that he knows something we don't.

I think Melo to Houston is an indicator LeBron is gone after next season.

I wouldn't look into this one thing too much. A few of the reports on the Houston/Knicks trade talks have ended with a single line stating that the Cavs are his first choice. It may just be that the Knicks want to deal with the Rockets (for trade pieces or not dealing within the conference).

If Melo knew for sure that LBJ was gone after the season then he would have likely taken Cleveland off his list entirely. Instead he indicated that he would be winning to waive his no trade to come to Cleveland or Houston. If anything that's a positive sign for Cleveland fans because it shows that Melo at least believes that LeBron will be in Cleveland for the duration of the next two years that Melo would be under contract for.

For what it's worth, Melo has a Player Option for 2018-2019 that he could use to avoid spending a year on the Cavs without Lebron (if he gets traded to Cleveland, and if Lebron looks like he's leaving). He'd have to exercise it before the free agency period though.

I still like Simmons although a lot less than I did maybe 5 years ago. Some of it is nostalgia. Some of it respect for how he pioneered the fusion of sports/pop culture media. He really has no one to blame for his decline (which is real) but himself. He thought he was bigger than the industry and it corrected him. His pettiness (be it toward ESPN, Doc Rivers or whomever) only makes him that much harder to root for anymore.

But he's still a solid entertainer and funny. Good podcaster. He falls victim to wanting respect as an NBA journalist/insider. He still hasn't learned he can't have it both ways.

Bill filters everything through the prism of a Celtics fan. Bogus/Pointless mega trades where Celtics get whoever they want + his insistence on NBA conspiracy theories (LA seems to be the team that is always involved)...It's like he is stuck on this 80's nostalgia loop and just cant course correct. I think his humor and wit is better served in writing (super awkward on tv) but he is a great talent evaluator (Grantland, Ringer).

doesn't he have an option on that 18-19 contract year? I'm pretty sure he could opt out after next year. And if he's bought out and signed he definitely will be able to opt out.

Ben Simmons is a beast tho...... 6' 10" running point guard and slowly improving his range out to 3....uh oh
No doubt. If Philly's talented young guys weren't all VIP members at the local emergency room I could see them as a team for him to wind down his career playing with.

Its sad to see Bill Simmons like this.

I used to love reading his pieces 4-5 years ago even if I didn't agree with it. But he has completely sold his soul now. Like @ACisKING said, the way he pussied out of the KD going to the Warriors situation was embarassing. He has become what he used to mock and hate at ESPN. A HACK!

As for his conspiracy theory, well, Lakers have been trying to get a SG for a 1-year rental contract for quite some time. They were after Redick. George Hill. And now KCP. So, yeah. Them signing a good SG who can play some defense and space the floor is more about "doing LeBron a favour saving Klutch's face". Sure.
