LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why are you using an article from November 20th? Yeah, LeBron slacks during the regular season. Why wouldn't he? He knows that we'll need 40 point triple doubles from him come postseason to even have a chance of advancing.
LeBron's defensive effort in game 2 is one of the worst I have seen out of him in the playoffs. I can remember at least 4-5 occasions when he just lifelessly stood there doing literally nothing on defense. A few times he's not even in view of the play because, after a missed shot, he just stands at the other end of the court while the Celtics play 5-on-4.

He just doesn't have the stamina he used to. A lot of times defense boils down to basic hustling, and LeBron just doesn't have enough energy to do that anymore. The lack of defense isn't him mentally quitting, or not caring, it's just his body being pushed to its absolute limit.

He's still capable of playing good defense, and occasionally we're treated to a flashy burst of highlight-reel defense -- had another highlight chasedown block in game 2 -- but overall he's becoming less and less of a factor on defense.

Being able to play good defense is about skill/ability; doing it consistently is a matter of stamina. I don't doubt the former, but the latter is clearly becoming a factor.

If LeBron magically stays our only goal as a franchise should be to keep him at an extremely strict 30 mpg in the regular season

Aka we’re gonna take a lot of losses but that should some what force whatever coach we have to put in an offense. Because I’ll say this until the day i die, this roster is not worse than the 2007 Cavs. This roster has great scorers on it but there just isn’t any structure to what they should do. If Jordan Clarkson knows for a fact when he comes off a screen that he’s getting the ball and needs to drive he’s actually a very good scorer and facilitator. The problem is none of these guys know what they should do because they are forced to play off LeBron. Ya gotta run plays and keep the ball moving Lue!!!

he might not be there yet but in the next 2-3 years LBJ will be

"I ain't as good once was,
But I'm as good once, as I ever was."

do you want a 4 year max deal with him that would also need to somehow get at least one more player in on a max deal....plus keep paying TT

does gilbert want to ?

Just letting anyone know when they type about how they want LeBron gone to start over.

If LeBron leaves? That is the end of any championship this team we will see for at least a generation of so....LeBron is a generational figure. The odds of finding someone close to his abilities would be a miracle.

Okay....

1. Plenty of teams have won NBA championships without LeBron James. So the fact that LBJ is a generational talent does not mean that the Cavs will necessarily have to wait another generation to win a championship. Could be sooner, could be later.

2. Living through the constant bullshit drama with this team, and a generally ugly, unenjoyable regular season (my personal opinion) is not worth a playoff run, especially given that almost all of us believe there is very little chance of us beating GSW. Most fans here seem to expect us to get stomped by whomever we'd face in the West -- assuming we even make it out of the West. So ugly regular season, looming dread of getting stomped in the Finals.

Now if we hadn't won in 2016, and were still in the Drought...yeah, I might feel differently. Or if this team was a ball-busting team that played hard even if they probably don't have enough to win the Finals....sure..

But now...I just want to watch some decent fucking basketball, with players that give a shit on a nightly basis, and have the fun of rooting for young guys to develop. You know...hope. Not a shitty 82 games followed by agonizing over why we can't seem to get any consistency, and dreading the stomp in June.

Again, that's just me. But I don't think I'm entirely alone.

Good luck waiting for Lue to do this.

I want him gone after this season, regardless of the playoff outcome. Maybe snatch someone with a good college pedigree who understands both ends of the game. But this leads me into this...

Someone that can oversee this team and

....you're not.

This team is a chore to watch, and I believe LeBron is definitely not blameless in this. I'm tired of "Win Now" basketball, especially since it looks like the next two super powers are locked up for the duration.

Might as well.

Can confirm.

Season was not fun.

Did anyone else have to explain this season to their kids...lmao

Well you see son, they are a bunch of adult babies who throw tantrums by demanding trades, threatening injuries, and refusing to play their hardest.

Oh, well Isaiah Thomas thinks Kevin Love is a punk ass bitch. You see that play there, that's where Lebron purposely didn't play defense. Oh and those are the plays where the team followed Lebrons lead.

Dad: I love this game

Son: Why?

This season was the epitome of unenjoyable.

So people would rather follow a more "enjoyable" regular season with a (likely) no-entry/early-exit postseason, than a LeBron led team on the short list of title contention? Interesting...

Not me! I don't want to see Lebron play for another team again.

I also don't care to watch a Cavs team without Lebron; which leads to missing the playoffs again for years on end and tanking for picks. I know that's reality at some point; but too soon for me at this point.

It’s cool.. there’s a good chance we might have a Trae Young led team next season fighting with heart for a good 20-25 solid wins! Lol

Spot on Post, well said
LBJ is getting older. I dont see a way we really improve this team enough to overtake GS or Houston. Celtics, Philly, Indy and Raptors will be better.

We were 4th in the conference folks, not 1st

We are not going to win another ring with LBJ

I would look forward to watching the team with a new core of Cedi, Zizic, draft choice, Nance jr, maybe clarkson/hood to start the re-boot.

We need to nail the pick though that is for sure. Lets remember, Curry, harden, Green, Thompson etc were not #1 picks

Love has a lot of value to the right team, probably more so at the deadline next year.

Korver and JR's expiring contracts have value. frankly Korver still has value as a player to the right team

We have trade exceptions that would help get assets

George Hill has value to the right team

If LBJ comes back for a 1 and 1 contract then we will trade everything above to bring in another star.....if we even can. if that doesnt work, he will simply leave and we will have close to nothing to start with it

If he signs a 4 year deal, well, what kind of player do you think he will be in 2022. Certainly too old to lead us to a ring. Father Time is undefeated.

Time to start the re-build...and go back to the Original Cavalier Logo, lol

I can still enjoy what Lebron in the postseason is doing and at the same time not enjoy whatever it is that Ty Lue thinks he's doing in the postseason.

I'd prefer title contention, but we haven't been that for 2 years. How do we get back there?

On your first point, I'd agree if we had an owner, GM, or head coach I believed in, but we just don't. I don't think Dan Gilbert will ever own a championship-quality team without LeBron on it. So if LeBron leaves, I'm expecting Sacramento Kings of the East for a long time unless Dan sells.
