Our hesitance to pull the trigger on sacking JBB in the season is going to hurt us beyond just getting destroyed these playoffs.
Jordi, many’s top candidate, is already off the board to Brooklyn.
Washington and Charlotte jobs are open. Neither team is good, which would make things favorable for the Cavs for a vet coach, but there would be less pressure to win immediately. May be a better fit for a first timer like Chris Quinn, Sam Cassell, Becky Hammon, as you may be afforded more patience.
Seems like the Lakers and Suns jobs will be available. Due to location and top level talent, one might think these jobs would be more attractive to coaches like Bud.
One wouldn’t be shocked if Willie Green is canned after being swept in NOP. If that happens, like this as a fit for Atkinson. Good players, young players, draft capital intact.
One might guess that the loser of the Mavs -Clippers series is also getting canned; only silver lining here is Lue may be a candidate for CLE. But both jobs likely rank higher than CLE, although they also have no draft capital at all…
A worst case scenario, and an early exit, likely results in the Celtics firing Mazzulla. That would obviously be best job available…
With so much smoke about Mitchell wanting out nationally, the struggles of Garland and Mobley, and the fdraft cupboard bare, how attractive is this job, really?
To me, assuming many of the jobs are open, we are really looking at Stotts and Lue as the fits for the roster and its expectations…but part of me worries the musical chairs of coaches here could end up with us getting the next Chauncey Billups…
