Cavsdan is trending in Cleveland tonight so Gilbert is hearing everyone's complaints about Mike Brown.
It's nothing personal, Mike just might not be the answer for this particular team. Gilbert made it personal with the Mike Brown/Chris Grant circle jerk press conference. "we have utmost faith in Mike"..... sure, Mike's a GREAT guy, but he might not be the answer here. By committing to him long term like that, we've handcuffed ourselves to a bad outcome any way we slice it. I think we gave Mike job security like that as a sign to our young superstar that "this guy's not going to get worked over, he's here to stay"
We all agreed in principal to how defense absolutely must be entrenched in these kids as soon as possible. We forgot what else comes with Mike Brown as your coach, for better or worse.
The most threatening thing is the relationship between he and Irving, especially with Waiters sounding off (ala Delonte) policing the equal treatment of the players.
We've got a little bit of a hot-head on our hands with Irving. He's clearly not right, and I kind of wonder if he really has a substance abuse problem. His timing seems off, and he's trying to be a too cute and instead should be a little more engaged and fundamental.
If push comes to shove and Dan has to fire Mike Brown again, no coach in their right mind is going to wanna walk into that situation, with Irving being our new LeBron whom we'll never say no to. No good coach is going to put themselves in the crossfire at the mercy of a star player like that. If that happens, then Kyrie might be called a coach-killer, the criticism of him gets worse, meanwhile he's hot-headed and never really adapts He'll always be able to get buckets (therefore thinking he's not the problem) when indeed he really is. I can see that heading south
real quickly.
Again I worry that Irving is going to talk to James/Bryant about Mike Brown. I bet neither guy would think that Mike is a championship caliber coach. He's not really a "developmental specialist, or guy that gets everything from all his players" type either though, so I guess he's a pretty shitty coach then if that's the case. He's somewhere in the middle, and that's not who you want leading a young group like this. Mikes the hollering type, he's yelling and yelling like a maniac on the sidelines,
but the players rarely if ever get pumped up about his energy.
I've said before, you need to be able to outscore to win games too, especially when you have the players that we do. Anyone with any semblance of awareness and cognition can see that a Mike Brown lead team will
NEVER outscore to win. Maybe we'll get to the point of where we'll defend to win, but I don't really see our players thinking like that AT ALL. They actually think the exact opposite, which is part of the problem.
Did defense need to get drilled into these kids, 110% yes. You wouldn't send your kid to Ronnie Coleman for youth football conditioning either though? Would you? Get Ronnie Coleman to think about leaving body-building altogether and pick up running cross country instead! That's seemingly what we have on our hands here with Mike's offensive stubbornness, predictability and ineptitude. Even with LeBron, scoring points and running anything other than a
predictable-ass-offense was out of the question with Brown. We have too large of a sample size to feel otherwise! I understand the different circumstances, but clearly there's something more happening here, clearly
something the same is happening here. There's something to be said about the softness of these players too. They've taken it in the ass one too many times for me to feel otherwise.
You think Mike Brown is gonna fire them up? Sometimes with this group of kids it seems Mohammad Ali himself couldn't even inspire these kids..... but Brown??? WTF is Brown going to do other than be annoying as fuck and constantly be yelling from the sidelines?
Go to a conditioning class, find yourself the most intense annoying son of a bitch who will be yelling in your face repeatedly.....after a couple miles ran, tell me how much they motivate you?
Or.... are you going to
tune them out and continue jogging lightly instead?
Cuz that's exactly what I see this group of players doing, jogging lightly......despite all of Brown's sideline intensity.
