Defense has been miserable... Bogut will help a ton, believe me. Somewhat like Mozzy did when he came in, it makes a big difference to have that paint presence down there and not just letting the other team have a free pass to the rim. Can't wait until Bogut starts lacing them up, will be much needed.

Our defense is going to look better with Bogut and JR and even Love, and Kyrie and LBJ actually trying.

I think part of it is that we don't gameplan too hard for teams during the regular season. But in the playoffs when you play 1 team for a series, you gameplan hard on defense and focus on it and actually use strategy.

It's really, really hard to defend NBA teams when only 2-3 guys on the roster consistently exert effort on that end.

Our biggest issue is transition defense its horrid. Even in the half court guards get a line drive ( *cough* kyrie *cough*) to the basket.

Well this is another pretty big issue we have a severe lack of defensive talent.

While i will never give up my assumption that once Bogut has been properly integrated and JR and Love are back and we near the Playoffs our defense will improve dramatically..
I cant ignore how bad the defense looks up until now..

I mean what the Hell? We were mostly coasting the last 2 years in the RS and had much better defense.. Why?

I guess they know they can get No1 in the East without much Defense but it is dangerous only starting to play Defense in the Playoffs.. By then you propably have build some bad habbits you first have to shake of..

My hope is that Bogut could very well bring a new urgency and mean streak to our Defense.
A new sense for defense wich even goes beyond what he actually does on the court himself.

Still.. I want to see some Games in preparation for the Playoffs where we hold Teams to 90 or 80 Points.. i want to see se REAL defense..

We can't allow a Team that scores 103 on average to score 130..
Yes we previaled and kept them from coming all the way back.. but with just a little more defense they never would have cut into the 25 Point lead..

The problem is that without giving effort and trying to play real defense we don't know what real issues we have on that end. It's like cooking, you don't know if what you're cooking tastes good without even trying it. And just hoping it's going to taste good when you serve it to someone is a bit naive.

I think you'll get more focus on that end pre-playoffs, just not now. Those last 8-10 games when LeBron hits playoff mode, the team will as well. We'll have everyone back then and we'll be trying to tune it up.

Defensive game plans are team dependent. You won't know what issues you have until you play the first game of a playoff series. The same defense that is played in the regular season isn't trotted out in every game in the playoffs.

True..

And after all with out Offense especially if healthy... we dont need absolutly elite defense.. our defense just needs to be solid enough to keep opponents from going crazy like ATL did last night.
We cant allow the other Team to score with us..

But our defense has do be good enough to get timely stops in crunchtime.
We where great at this last Playoffs and we still see spurts of this this season. When it really counts we can play elite defense.

Folks...it's not about effort, and you can't turn it on like a faucet. You can tell when weak defense is just due to poor effort because teams will turn on the effort to get key fourth quarter stops to preserve a lead. Do you have any confidence in this team to get key fourth quarter stops? Do you really believe that they didn't care if Boston beat them the other day at Boston? Do you think they didn't care if Atlanta came back from 23 points down to win? Do you think the 29 points Boston hung on us in the 4th to win that game were because the Cavaliers weren't trying? Do you think the 42 points Atlanta hung on us in the 4th to make it a one point game with two minutes to go were because the Cavs weren't trying?
