Lonzo Ball

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
How long before LaVar stops going to games due to embarrassment?

I thought he was a poor man's Rubio...he's worse than that. His shot is so unbelievably broken. Under 30%...he has a better chance of being out of the league in a couple years than becoming an all-star. He'd be lucky to have a career as a role player. Not even hating, I have nothing against him. If you can't even shoot on a Rubio/Rondo level you ain't making it in this league.

21st century NBA prospect personified. Here you have a kid who has one or two identifiable NBA level talents. His family goes blind to the idea that even though a few shoe mongols and AAU coaches see potential, that potential alone doesn't make a kid NBA ready. The possibility of changing the kid's game to be more well rounded gets thrown out the window. He goes to a bad franchise who will spend the summer praising him to sell season tickets, and the overhype continues. Suddenly the kid is playing against men, and he is woefully under prepared.

Seen it all before... Dion had the same problem. Nerlens had the same problem. Let's see if he can straighten out in under six years or if he's hard headed.

The Lakers would be lucky for him to even have 20% of the “heart” and toughness Dion has had since Syracuse.

I’m not even sure how much be really “loves” basketball or if he just loves it as much as his dad expects him to.

I dunno. When Fox sonned him in the tournament I really was concerned about his “it” factor. Hasn’t changed a bit since. Maybe even worse.

They have different problems, but I'll stand by my comparison in how they have rejected a growth mindset. Dion wanted to do what Dion did in AAU ball in the NBA. It was self-serving to his one or two NBA level talents but ignoring the holes made him nearly unplayable on a contending team.

That's where Ball is right now as well. His daddy made excuses why basketball should change around Lonzo, now he's at a level where that won't happen. Too much money is at stake for franchises.

He did some good things out there. But y'all concerned about his FG%

Who's to say his 4-15 shooting outweighs his 4 blocks, 5 assists, 6 rebounds?

But Keys!! He's won a summer league MVP!! He re-invented the pass!! Magic sees himself in Lonzo!!

The only excuse Lonzo has going for himself is he's a pass first player but nobody to pass too. And that 'nobody' refers to not having stars.

Paul George isn't winning 45+ games with the Lakers.

According to Basketball-Reference, he currently has the worst field goal percentage of any player ever to attempt at least 10 shots per game. This isn't a player who needs some work to become above average or an All Star... this is a player who could work his way out of the rotation if something doesn't change soon. History in inefficiency is being set before our eyes.

I'm concerned about a ton of things...

84 ORtg, 8.5 PER while averaging 33 minutes, that's not point guard worthy. He has a true shooting percentage of 35, I don't even know where that ranks, but thats atrocious. He can't finish to save his life, if a hockey pass is the 3rd pass that scores, then what is the 4th pass that scores called? Because Zo leads in that category. Kidd wanted assists!! He wanted to be the guy to make the pass that scores, not skipping rocks in the lake and seeing how many jumps it goes...

Awful comparison, and people ran with that bullshit. Lakers fans are delusional as all hell.

I think Lonzo has some defensive upside if he cleans up his fundamentals. He legitimately has good instincts and quick hands, and good size for the position.

Giving him summer league MVP was clearly putting the horse before the cart, as was shoving him into a 35 minutes per game starting role...hopefully for his sake the Lakers change course and give him a reduced role with realistic expectations before they completely ruin him.

Hey man if his goal is to be a broke mans Ricky Rubio he’s well on his way.

But if his goal is to bring the Lakers back to relevancy, attract max free agents, and make all-NBA teams? Well there’s going to be a lot of disappointment to say it nicely.

It's really fun to follow Lonzo's and Lance Stephenson's FG% and 3PT% throughout the season. It's quite a competition between those two.

Lance has the upper hand in FG: 31% > 29.5%
Lonzo is flat out dominating Lance in 3PT: 23.1% > 17.9%

I kinda wish the Ball family...and the Kardashian family too...can all go to China and never come back. Take TT too..a triple won for all of us.
