Lonzo Ball

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The positives about this move is that the team plays really fast ant three point orientated basketball that will suit balls (in last game they set new record for three pointers per game)The coach has all the reigns in there and despite results he won't be fired so the kids might have a chance to play a lot of minutes because the end result doesn't really matter for the general manager

There's a chance it could be a potential positive for the older brother. But pulling the 16 year old out of school, away from all his friends and classes, and sending him to Lithuania is simply nuts.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but that part of the world (Russia & the old USSR) isn't exactly known for diversity, tolerance, and inclusiveness. I wonder how the teenagers are going to handle those kind of issues - I'll just leave it at that.

Okay, so I have to ask....

@Los216 , what do you think of this guy now?

My opinion hasn't changed. What I'm starting to see though is that people are showing fake outrage and pretending to care about his kids when really they just don't like Lavar. Honestly it's a little hard for me to believe anybody who keeps saying how bad they feel for his kids and then go on to crush LaVar. Keep it 100. You really don't give a shit about his kids and what they're doing and why should you? They're not your kids. It's not your family but since they are in the public eye people feel as though there's a specific way that he needs to raise his kids.

I'll be honest with you. If my dad would've told me when I was 16 that he was gonna take me out of Cleveland Public Schools and take me overseas so that I could play on a low level pro Basketball team and maybe have a chance to play in an even bigger league I would've been the happiest 16 year old in the world. We would've had a outlet to get out. That's another thing that people also keep forgetting. Lavar Ball has put his family in a position where his kids have more resources than the average 16 and 19 year old. They drive Lambo's and wear real Gucci. They live in a nice ass house that's paid for. They have multiple family businesses. They ain't broke. They're literally Big Ballers lol. (Sorry I had to do it)

When people complain about LaVar ruining them I don't exactly understand what they mean by that. What is he ruining? Their education? Gelo was just a student at UCLA. Even if you don't think he's good enough to play basketball clearly The Ball family has enough resources to get him in school and not just any school either. We talkin bout UCLA. They have the money and the resources to go to whatever school they want to. If they want to pursue business ventures as a family before that then let them. That's what they wanna do so why are people complaining? They don't need to follow no damn blueprint. It's like people are mad because they got money and they got resources and they are doing what they want to do. With the help of Lavar, his kids are in a position where they can go and try to pursue a pro career overseas and guess what, if they fail do they really fail? They'll still have plenty of money and resources do do something else.

Now as far as people saying he's exploiting his kids i don't see it that way. His kids just wanna play Ball man. That's what they wanna do. they wanna hoop. They're a rich family with kids who wanna play sports. Their dad has them in position to do exactly that. While people are shitting on Lavar for holding his kids hostage and being a bad parent he has a son who's the starting PG for The Lakers and is currently one of the most popular players and best rookies in the league. Bad parenting. his other sons are pursuing a pro basketball career in Lithuania and preparing to take on the challenge while starting from the bottom at a low level pro League instead of playing College Basketball for a crooked NCAA system that takes advantage of its players. Bad parenting.

It's just fascinating to me how so many people are concerned about the interest of some kids from a rich family simply because their father is in the news a lot. I don't buy for a second that people are concerned or invested in the futures of Melo and Gelo. No. You don't really care about them. They're rich kids with a polarizing father. There's thousands of other kids in America who people should really be more concerned about but their dad didn't go on TV and tell you he could beat Michael Jordon 1 on 1 so we need to focus our energy on The Ball Brothers.

Too many people are worried about a situation that's damn near fail proof at this point. Like sit here and seriously think for a second. Lavar Ball is one of the most popular people in America. His oldest son is one of the most popular basketball players in the world. His other two sons are pursuing a pro career overseas. The Ball family is eating good. I think they'll be fine and that maybe people shouldn't be so concerned about their business because business is booming for that family.

I would agree with this if they were broke. They aren't. They'll be good. Just imagine if you had money in the bank and your kids said they wanted ti study abroad. There's always a risk involved but if that's what your kids want to do and you have the money and the resources and the time to support them then go do what y'all wanna do. As far as the age goes there's kids playing baseball and soccer all over the world in similar situations. Hell there's more than likely going to be a few 16 year olds playing in that pro league where they're headed to. None of this is new it's just polarizing.

Just imagine if you had money in the bank and your kids said they wanted ti study abroad.

Sure, I can imagine that. But that's not what is happening here.

First, they're not going abroad to study. They're going abroad to play basketball.

Second, it was not LaMelo saying that he wanted to "study abroad". It was Lavar making that decision, and you can quote him on that. He talked about how he didn't want to deal with the coaches, and how he could do a better job than they could, etc... This is all him.:

How is going to play in a village in Europe a better experience than playing at UCLA?

He wouldn't have been n the rotation at UCLA. They can play more overseas and have the opportunity to move up to the higher level. Let's not act like playing college sports is always the best option. Hell the NBA is considering giving players the option to play in the G-League straight out of High School. Just a few seasons ago Mudiay left college to go play overseas. College isn't the only option and isn't always the best option.

Also they are ineligible to play in the NCAA anyway because of the rules that don't allow college athletes to make money. It's only fair if the NCAA makes money of these kids. God forbid they want to make money for themselves.

LiAngelo fucked LaMelo's short future up. Bottom line. Go steal some more, bitch.

I honestly want to see this workout not because i care about the kids nor do i like the father. I just want to see the ball bros on the lakers, that would be comedy.. :chuckle::chuckle::chuckle:

Nah. I fundamentally disagree with a lot of what @Los216 says here and these kind of debates just exhaust me. I'll leave this one for the rest of you guys and keep an eye on the situation from time to time in the news. Los is throwing a lot of assumptions and digs in there that make a conversation toxic too. I also see where he's coming from on certain elements, particularly as relates to Lonzo.

I believe I've made my sentiments on Lonzo clear. They'll be similar on the other kids if they're good and fun to watch.

I don't like LaVar or any other parent who puts themselves before their children.

That's all I have to say on this one. I'll let this one go.

It does amaze me that @Los216 pretty much co-signs every single LaVar move including those $495 sneakers that are hotcakes. Dude is all in on the Balls, not even an alleged sexual harassment can stop him!!!

I just can't get past how this is for those kids. Lonzo gave up a $10M shoe contract for daddy's business. And imagine ordering a 16 year old out of school, to a place where very few people speak his language, etc.. It's kind of mind-boggling.

I'm pretty sure the Lakers will have learned their lesson about Lavar from drafting Lonzo. They'd have to be insane to double their headaches by drafting either one of the other two kids even if they were good enough.

I actually agree with you about not re-engaging with him on this. There's no point. I just though it somewhat amusing that he's still sticking by Lavar.

The kid thing really does bother me.
