Luka Doncic

I've shifted my viewing habits to a lot of NCAABK with the Cavs eying epic loss numbers.......but Luka is already one of the guys I try to catch at least a quarter or two on league pass.

It's really depressing the BK pick just didn't work out for us. He's such an enjoyable guy to watch.....both from an esthetic and production standpoint.

In addition to being a much better athlete than some had thought, Doncic is able to play Old Man Ball at 19 years old. When you have a guy playing Old Man Ball plus youthful energy and athleticism, that's a very hard combination to stop.

yeah, that's why he can play so many minutes. Old Man Ball allows you to conserve energy, and youth allows you to actually move fast when you need to.

I just can't believe we're seeing a 19 year old with this level of craftiness and this kind of toolkit in his rookie year.

So the Mavs won 5 out of their last 6 games with a 19 year old leading them... Notable wins:

vs Washington (+19)
vs Thunder (+15)
vs Jazz (+50)
vs Warriors (+3)

Crazy. Only 1 win away from a .500 record.
 
Kid was destroying grown ass man playing basketball since he was like 16, the competition he played against in Europe is light years ahead of anything those college kids drafted ahead of him had to deal with.

I said it before & after the draft and I’ll say it again, taking 7 footers ahead of this kid or a 6’2 guard is absolute insanity especially in today’s NBA, just shows how incompetent & out of touch so many front offices in the league are, they will regret passing on Luka for years to come.

And that would have been the result of the Kyrie trade that so many say was one of the worst trades in history. It was a decent shot to take because we came pretty fucking close to getting a guy who is younger than Kyrie, and a more valuable player.
 
It would have been wonderful to get Doncic but probably he would not shine in Cleveland as much. International players depend on a good organization, good coaching, well-defined roles suitable for them on the court. It is not just coincidence that some organizations do better than others in finding International gems. Cedi and Zizic are far from Doncic level, but if they were in San Antonio, we would probably see them develop faster, contribute more and be sad that we were not lucky to get them.

Well, we didn't and still don't have the right coach now, but that could easily change at the end of the year. Doncic himself would have been a good draw for the right kind of coach.
