I am surprised by the number of characters that died.

GOTG Vol 3 8.5/10

My favorite story of this phase of the MCU. Stakes were toned down but still high for the team. Everyone gets their moments, everyone gets their closure, well directed, written & acted.

In Gunn I trust.

This is just what the doctor ordered for the current state of the MCU.

Damn movie had me tearing up a little bit too.
Gunn had a wild amount of input in the characters and their personalities, though. He won't get that in DC for the core of their brand. I started getting bored of his schtick as Peacemaker wound down, and this was a character that, again, Gunn had free reign to make him in his image; I also started checking out on the Guardians too as I am annoyed how he made Drax into helpless comic relief. At least he isn't as bad as Taika, who went from 0 to 60 to 0 in his two Thor movies.

New Guardians movie was the best since Endgame, in my opinion.
I think it’s not even an opinion. Movie had it all and easily makes the Guardians the best all around Marvel trilogy. Even better than Captain America.

Probably felt like an actual comic book more than any other MCU movie. Even more than the other Guardian movies. I’ll probably go see it again but not in 3D. Seems like a lot of scenes may have looked even better without the color/brightness getting slightly dimmed due to the 3D glasses.

Oh yea. I was just talking about the MCU.

DC is a trainwreck and he aint gonna save it.

Unpopular opinion, I didn't like either Suicide Squad if I'm being honest.

Good movie.

So much resonance.

Best MCU film, along with No Way Home, since Endgame.

A shout out to the monkey attacking the lady's face for no reason. I laughed maniacally.

I didn't expect that the deaths of characters with only a few minutes of screen-time could be so emotionally devastating. I know it wasn't just me; at least 25% of the theater was openly sobbing. Lylla's last words and death, followed by Rocket's howl of anguish, coupled with Floor's panic attack and desperate rising screams of "Rocket, Teefs, Floor go now!" over and over... and the absolute silence after she and Teef are killed in the crossfire. I think it is by far the saddest scene in the entire MCU.

Yeah, Yandu, Tony's, and Natasha's deaths were all sad, but they knowingly sacrificed themselves for the greater good (and we knew Gamora was coming back in some fashion), there is something worse and completely gut-wrenching about the senseless murder of completely innocent, gentle beings by an irredeemable psychopath. Bradley Cooper's voice acting was sublime. That raging howl was eviscerating. It's been 12 hours since I saw it and I am still emotional about it. I think it triggered some things non-related to anthropomorphic MCU characters, with so many lost friends and pets over the past decade. "Hurts."

i think thats because not only were they animals, but they were cognizant of their surroundings while still underdeveloped. It was similar to a toddler. Broken words, bad language, but still aware. No one likes to see animals killed or tortured. Props to Gunn for getting dark and getting the story across.

Best MCU movie since Endgame. There were at least 4 separate moments where I was about to tear up. Great character moments, thoroughly despicable villain, AMAZING soundtrack. Humor was on point.

That 2 minute one-shot fighting scene? Masterpiece.

9.5/10

I think Guardians resonated more with me and a lot of folks is that we cared about the characters more. Everybody knew Captain America and Iron Man, but only die-hards knew about the Guardians. We as an audience were able to discover these characters and grow with them as their characters exposed more about themselves to us.

He's literally the co-CEO of DC's movie division. He's going to have vastly more input than he had at Marvel for the entire DC universe.

While I'm extremely optimistic, I look at the lineup that he has and worry a bit. I also get worried about all the Batman & Jokers running around.

The Guardians were a blank slate; Gunn could pretty much do whatever he wanted with their personalities. He doesn't have that kind of free reign with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, etc. Fans have expectations for how those characters act, he can't just do his Edgelord Judd Apatow thing with those. I can see him huffing his own farts like several other of the recent it directors have done and ruin a good thing.
