wallace's injury history plus horrible shooting percentage scares me. this guy is larry hughes redux. i'd rather have VC.
I would rather have VC as well, but of course there's a huge chance the Nets don't want to trade him at all.

Horrible shooting percentage? This year:
Year|Team|G|GS|MPG|FG%|3P%|FT%|OFF|DEF|RPG|APG|SPG|BPG|TO|PF|PPG
08-09|CHA|25|25|37.4| 0.461 |0.250|0.780|1.1|6.6|7.7|2.2|1.9|0.9|2.20|2.90|16.1

His 3p% is down from last year(32.1%) but his role here wouldn't be as a 3pt shooter, his points are also down so far down from his 19ppg last year, his free throw % is up, and his FG% is just about the same, he'd be fine if he could adjust to being a SG(starter).

^ It would be a terrible idea to start G-Force. He's not a prolific outside shooter. Think about it. You would be starting Lebron, G-Force, and Big Ben. These guys are not outside scorers (Big Ben is not a scorer at all). Lebron's outside J is suspect at best and G-Force is slasher type of player similar to Larry Hughes and is shooting 25% from the 3 point line as you mentioned. If teams wanted to beat us all they would have to do is sit in a 2-3 zone and make us shoot from the outside. We all saw how the combo of Larry and Lebron on the court worked out.

IMO the only way G-Force and Lebron should be on the court together for significant minutes is if we played small ball and tried to run the opposing team out of the gym with a lineup of:
Mo
Delonte
G-Force
LBJ
AV

So how does Reghi, who Gilbert fired as the tv play by play guy two years ago, know exactly which players the front office is targeting? :dunno:

As a media member do you think he has no contacts within the organization and NBA?

Reghi was a media member for the Cavaliers. I'm sure he's still in contact with guys in the front office of the Cavaliers. Guys he's still friends with, or has kept an ear with.

You don't become a media member like Reghi, and not have a few sources around the league and team you've worked with.

1st I just wanna remind yall that it was this station that told us a deal was going down with Phoenix for Barbosa and a deal with GOlden State for B-Diddy.

But this is different. Reghi aint Windhorst, he doesnt have the rep and he probably dont have the contacts. But hes a guy that wouldnt be shy of telling people nearly everything hes heard, whereas someone like Windhorst will only hint at people.

I always liked Reghi and in this instance, since he keeps sayin it over n over and hes so sure, I believe him.

And regarding how hed fit in here:

-Hed come off the bench, a few people like Winhorst and Bob Finnan have said if we got him hed play the 6th man. Hes not a 2 and not a 4, but he can play those positions. I also spoke to a few Cat fans who have said if he was playing for a contender he would accept the Manu/Odom role.
He wouldnt be becoming a bench player, hed still be getting the 2nd or 3rd most minutes on the team but hede be playing that Manu role.

-Off the bench, playing the 2, 3 and 4 hed be a perfect fit. We got enough outside shooters, wed be getting someone who plays rough and physical attacking the rim and posting up.

And defensively and in terms of hustle, hes a match made in heaven.

Only problem I got with him is the injury risk. Which is a prett serious problem.

It was that moron Munch who reported both trades. It's not the station, it's just one idiot, Munch.

I don't at all think Reghi has the sources Windhorst does, but you'd think a guy who's worked with an organization for about 10 years, still has an ear to a few team sources.

Speaking of Windhorst, I've e-mailed him TWICE about Gerald Wallace and he's not responded to either. He's always responded to me, too. Maybe it's legit and he can't comment on it. Reghi can, since he's not directly working for the Cavs anymore.

Im sorry but this doesnt make any sense.

Reghi did Cavaliers games longer than Brian Windhorst has been covering the NBA. That means years of meeting and talking to media scouts, GMs, players and coaches all around the NBA and their different regimes. He has to do that because he has to prepare for games.

So this guy has been around the NBA all these years and just because he isnt doing Cavaliers games but just college and baseball that he no longer knows anyone who would talk to him about what is going on in the league?

That is just ridiculous.

Windhorst is an nba beat writer. They are going to make a few more contacts than a color analyst. That's part of their job, to report trades, rumors, ect... I don't doubt at all Reghi has his fair share of sources, and still does, though.

Whether who has more, ect, is a moot point. To think Reghi has none, though is ridiculous. I agree with that.

I dont care how many sources tha guys got, I just think hes tellin the truth because oof how much hes saying it. Hes sounds totally sure.

Ive said for weeks that the 2 guys I want on this team are Gerald Wallace and Michael Redd. Both would fit right in, but apparently theres quite alotta friction between Mo and Redd.

Gerald wouldnt start at the 2, hed almost definitely come off the bench as the 2, 3 or 4 sometimes. Theres way more chance of him starting at the 3 and LeBron sliding to the 2, but as a general rule you dont move the best player in the world from his position, even though he plays the 2 alot anyway and would be the best SG in the league.

I really hope this aint a loada BS. Gerald Wallace would bring so many things that dont show up on the stat sheet. Even more hustle than Andy.

I think he's right because I said since around the draft we should and could get him.

I've been talking about getting him for awhile. I think we are. I gave it a 50/50 chance a few weeks ago.

I'm giving it a 70/30 now. Ferry wants a trade that's "perfect" that won't screw up the chemistry. Well, Wallace is that if we only have to part with Wally.

I am worried about the Cats wanting Av, though. I wouldn't do that. With the Bobcats being interested in Curry, the Knicks not really interested in anything they want(expiring contracts).

Now where do we come in? It all fits beautifully.

G-Force would be AWESOME coming in as a bench playe. We really lack a defensive STOPPER in our second unit, and we lack someone who can drive the ball and get to the line if we aren't hitting our jumpshots. Gibson isn't there yet.Along with the bench role, He could also be a situational stopper for a prolific 2 guard we might have trouble with. Our defensive lineup, if we really need to put the clamps on..could potentially include Delonte, G-Force, LBJ, Ben, and Z/Andy. If we can get rid of Wally, and bring G-Force in..without giving up Verajao or a young prospect, we'd be fools not to do it.

The one major downside of this team is that they lack a good perimeter defender with decent size, strength, athleticism, etc. Gerald Wallace would be a good fit for the Cavs IMO.

I dont care how many sources tha guys got, I just think hes tellin the truth because oof how much hes saying it. Hes sounds totally sure.

If that was the case then Lebron James is going to New York. Stephen A. Smith is doing the same thing as Reghi with the Lebron situation. ;)

But seriously i do believe there is some truth to it also, and i would love Wallace here in a 6th man type role. The guy could still get decent minutes. He would basically be getting minutes at the 3/4 spots and sometimes the 2. So he could very well get 25+ a night in terms of minutes.

I think we need to consider how perfect this would be for the Cavs. Regardless of what expectations people have, we don't need to score 110 points a game. We will always be a defensive team first. We should be that first. That is what will make us successful and will help win a title.

We have to build a team to get through Boston, because that's what it will take to win it all. We'll have to go through them to win. You won't do that by stocking up on perimeter shooters. That's NOT how you beat a team like Boston. You beat a team like them at their own game, by socking them in the mouth. The cavs have always been a good defensive team, never great. You add Gerald Wallace, I think we take the league by the storm defensively. We become dominate, similar to the 04 Pistons defensively. We can overwhelm Boston at a physical standpoint, with youth, and quickness. We can match them defensively. You have another player, in Gerald who can lock down Paul Pierce. Can let Lebron play off him more.

Wallace can really bring a lot of mismatches and fit in so well with Z, Lebron, Ben, West, Av, whoever. From the 2, to the 4 spot defensively. He's an outstanding rebounder. He can take his man to the basket and get you easy points(high percentage points).

This is what we are missing. The big picture is we become a dominant defensive team, who's capable of scoring the basketball. We improve our rebounding and point production around the basket. Isn't that the recipe to winning titles?
