Myles Garrett : NFL 2023 DPOY

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm fine with them being extra cautious. The schedule gets tougher after the first 6 weeks, so hopefully he can come back by then. If not maybe after the bye when it will have been 2 full months of healing.

As long as he can get some work under his belt for next year then we're all good.

Yeah I'm really not interested in being over cautious and making sure he's 100%. I'm sure this will be met with a snarky comment about how we aren't competing this year anyway, but for fucks sake it's the NFL. No one is ever 100%. Not trying to hold the guy out 8 weeks because of a high ankle sprain when he was literally practicing on it before being shut down

Myles hasn't proven shit at the NFL level. He might have to play at less than 100% like literally every other player in the league

I try to be optimistic about this stuff, but this one really bothers me.

It's like a perfectly genetic race horse designed for speed that has muscular thighs with weak ankles. Break an ankle, and the horse is heading to the glue factory. Or to Purina.

This guy's feet and ankles scare the shit out of me. Mostly with how long it takes him to recover from this stuff. Rolls an ankle at A&M and it ruins his whole year. Foot issue from OTA's, takes over a month of recovery. Now, a rolled ankle from hell again.

Humans aren't built to be that massive, carry that much weight, and be able to run that fast. He has the lower body of Achilles. If only the gods had completely dunked Myles in the Styx.

OBJ has the same injury. 6-8 weeks. Why are people upset that we aren't in a rush to damage a player by forcing him to play hurt and not only diminish his impact on the field but risk further injury. Yes it's the NFL and players aren't always at 100% but all of those players don't play. This isn't an UFA fighting for a roster spot. This is the #1 pick in the draft.

He won't see the field until he's fully good to go and that's the way it should be. OBJ and Joey Bosa both missed time to start their rookie seasons. Neither one had a problem making an impact when they came back. Everything we've seen from Myles so far shows he's been as advertised on the field. Chill out.

Definitely no reason to rush him back, especially when we're not competing go for the playoffs.

Trying to remain optimistic about the situation, but the fact that he sprained his ankle last year, hurt his foot in camp, sprained his ankle this year, and fractured a growth plate in his foot in HS is at least mildly concerning.

Just hoping he doesn't have the Derrick Rose syndrome of being too explosive for his own body. Maybe he needs Steph Curry's trainer to help him with his foot/ankle issues.

Are we going to ignore that he played on that hurt ankle all season and was still the best player in the draft by far? Like if people are going to be concerned about his injuries how do those people feel about drafting him #1? Unless you didn't want to draft him with the first pick what are you really complaining about? Rushing a player back from injury? That's not a smart thing to do regardless who the player is.

His level of play while playing on that bad ankle was not so good that it warranted him being drafted No. 1 overall. It was his play before he was hurt, coupled with the expectation that he'd be healthy, that made him the No.1.

But if he doesn't getting healthy, or can't stay healthy, then it will have been a blowpick. So it's not a question of wanting to rush him back. It is a concern that perhaps the way he's built makes him predisposed to ankle injuries. And until he manages to play for an extended period without one of those ankles going bad, that concern is legitimate.

Let's see how he looks in 2-3 weeks. I never thought the first 3 to 4 ganes was realistic once he suffered the injury so close to the opener.

This guy has been getting triple and double teamed since the beginning of his last season in college. His level of play was so bad that teams didn't even run the ball to his side. He got held more than any player on our team in the preseason. It sure looks like teams are showing him the ultimate respect.
