:chuckles:

I dunno... I love Chris Paul.

That Woj article was a joke. The public has clowned on guys for getting dunked on for a long time now. This is nothing new. To act like there's been some culture shift is ridiculous.

Depends on your definition of "new". This was not nearly as common 20-30 years ago because there was stronger belief in "sportsmanship" where gloating and demonstrating was frowned upon to some extent. That ethic has been deteriorating over time, and Adrian W. just pointed out that we're kind of at the low point. Assuming you value such things.

And regardless of how recent the phenomenon is, I agree with his point that it is particularly obnoxious in this context given the size difference between Jordan and Knight. So a 6'11', 265 guy dunks over and knocks to the floor a guy who is 6'3" and only 190, who had the guts to take a charge. Impressive, especially when some say Knight should just quit basketball, etc..

He got dunked on and it was fucking nasty. Get over it people. Knight wasn't doing anything heroic.

Knight put the team before himself. He put the chance to make a play that could possibly lead to a win over the major chance he would get dunked on. I want that guy on my team. I want that guy as my teammate.

Guys like Jalen Rose who sit on T.V. and say "shoulda just got out of the way" are moronic. I really hope refs don't mail it in in those situations. The moment a play like that is called an offensive foul, the player who drew it will become one of my favorite players in the league.

If a suicide squeeze is called, the pitch is 4 feet outside, and the runner is dead to rights coming home, should the batter reach out and miss or let it go to avoid humiliation?

I loved Perkins comment. Doesn't care if he gets "punked", or "posterized". He's going to stand in there and do his job. If he fails, he'll get up and try again the next time. It's kind of a shame that image and flash has become more important to some than actual production. Jordan is averaging an impressive 9 pts and 8 rbs a game, but hey, he dunked on the little guy.

You know what I'd love to do in all three of these case scenarios?

* Not really, but it'd be funny *

I got called a hipster for stating that I found the fact that Knight contested the dunk more impressive than the dunk itself. If a guy that is as big as Jordan and has 9+ft standing reach there is no reason he shouldn't be able to dunk over Knight 9 out of 10 times.

Same with LBJ over Terry the other day

Are you sure about that? 20 years ago was 1993. This happened in 92:

I really think Woj overreacted.

Yeah, quite sure. It was a great dunk, as was Jordan's. Although Kemp was a shorter guy dunking on a 7 footer who also outweighed him, and Jordan was dunking on Knight. But the point isn't the "what a great dunk". The point is the focus on the guy who got dunked on becoming the butt of jokes, particularly given the massive size differential. That's what impacts the sportsmanship aspect of it.

Making fun of Bosworth being run over by Bo Jackson is different -- two equals, one who had been shooting off his mouth and then getting planted. But I've been watching ball since the 70's, and while there has always been some of that stuff going on, I can't ever recall a guy that much smaller being the punch line. Maybe it's just because I'm an older dude, but I remember the time when sportsmanship was respected more than 'tude.

As for Woj, I think he made enough of a stink about this that the next time this kind of thing happens, you'll hear more comments about the little guy having the guts to stand in there. As it should be.

if lebron was still on the cavs we all know we'd be praising him royally for that dunk but since hes not , the dunk wasnt much worthy. Lets be real.

I never understand the hype when players 6inches taller dunk on little guards. Those dunks like the deandre jordan are overrated now when a little gurad bdiddy dunks on on foward kirolinko than its a big deal

paaalzzzz, stop acting like you didnt jump off your chair when you saw that dunk. You wont admit it but we know.

Yeah, it took guts for Brandon Knight to try and contest that dunk. That doesn't mean we can't make fun of him. It's sports, it happens, get over it. Woj needs to step down from his soap box.
