Not Ashamed to Admit We Were Wrong on...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wentz I was scared of. He had a lot of red flags.
1. Didn't start many games (due to injury)
2. Didn't play QB until senior year of high school
3. Didn't play against quality competition

He looked like a height weight speed guy but when he played he had good stats unlike Josh Allen. I liked him but I thought the risks were high with him because a lot of on the field action was unknown. I remember thinking the top of the 2nd round I'd absolutely take him knowing that he was going in the top 10.

I was not as upset at the Weeden pick as most people were. He had the size, arm strength and accuracy that I liked. Turns out he couldn't do the complex stuff in the NFL. If you want a 1 read QB in a quick attack, he's your guy.

Richardson I was completely against because I didn't and still don't think you take a RB that high. Then as it appeared he was going to be the pick, I got comfortable with the idea. I allowed myself to be duped into the pick. Never again. That's why I hated the idea of Barkley this year (even though Barkley WILL be and is already good).

I hated the richardson pick. Hated, hated, hated. He kept getting compared to AP, who went 6th overall, and when you watched college films it was obvious Peterson was a significantly more talented back. It was night and day difference. Sure Richardson had speed but that was it.

Then the browns traded up to get him and i lost my mind. I was very drunk that night.

I thought Weeden was going to work out. I thought he was going to step in and be the starter for 5-8 years

Well, he's on our team now, but Breshard Perriman. My friends STILL give me shit over it. 2015 was a bad year for me. If I had it my way, I wanted Bud Dupree and Perriman.

I thought Dupree was going to be like Kam Wimbley, rookie season, right away. Woof. Pittsburgh also took Jarvis Jones, who I loved in 2013. Woof. I just avoid linebacker scouting now.

But Perriman? I thought he was WR1. Here's a 6'2 215 strong outside receiver... And he runs a 4.25 at his pro day. I thought he was going to CARVE defenses on deep routes. He didn't have a drop problem in college and then.... Plummet. Still holding out hope.

I mean, I was only being half serious... but I’m quite happy to know I have thread-starting impact on this site!

Where to start...

1. Leaf over Manning - I thought Leaf would be good like Bledsoe! (Kind of a double-failure here, right?)
2. William Green - my alma mater loyalty got the better of me. I was right for like 8 games though!
3. Carson Wentz - just couldn’t get over that he played at South Dakota. Couldn’t see how he could do well, didn’t think he was accurate.
4. Teddy Bridgewater - thought he’d be the bees knees. HATED Manziel pick with him on the board still. Injuries robbed him, but he wasn’t trending towards anything more than a solid game manager.
5. David Carr - thought he was a panick thrower. Still TBD on his career, but he’s already crushed my prediction.

Basically, I’m just as dumb as the Browns. FO has been historically.

The biggest pick I was wrong on was Brady Quinn. I was just starting high school and read this article about how successful 1st and 2nd round QBs uniformly start a lot of college games. That, combined with the fact that I liked his accuracy and thought he knew how to win at Notre Dame, convinced me that Quinn was going to be a stud.

Boy, high school JKing was a bad talent evaluator.

In recent years my biggest miss was Marcus Mariota. I suppose he can still become a really good NFL starter, but man, I thought he would be a stud from day one.

My biggest hit was being early on Carson Wentz. I was watching Brock Jensen at NDSU and next thing I know, it led to me watching Carson Wentz. I thought he was going to be a Top 10 pick pretty early. His size and athleticism. He could make every single throw. He was very sharp. Just a good dude who truly gets it.

My biggest miss was definitely Brady Quinn. I loved it when we moved back in and grabbed him. Him being a Browns fan, from Ohio, and his talent level... I thought he’d be our franchise.

Non-Browns, I was absolutely pimping up Ronald Jones pre-draft. I loved him. I probably wrote about him 5-6 times. He’s been a huge disappointment so far.

The draft was absolutely garbage, but I was a BIG fan of Dion Jordan from Oregon. We took Mingo who was Jordan-light so I was ok with it. Man that draft was HORRIBLE

Is Mariota actually bad? If so, I missed that one.

He’s a bottom half of the league starting QB. Not the top 10 guy he was projected to be. Is he bad, no but he’s shown nothing special yet.

It really is the weakest draft I can remember. Even looking at it now, 2013 was simply dreadful.

Of all the players recently, I was definitely the most wrong on Wentz.

I didn't think he would be that good and he's excellent.

Ditto.

I think he did really luck out ending up with a great coach in a system designed to highlight his strengths, but still. I think he's exceeded the expectations of even the people who were right about him.
