**** Ohio State vs. Navy**** 9/5/09

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Tressel needs to hire a new O-Coordinator. Jim Bollman is terrible in my opinion. I know we scored 31 pts, but I think he's lost his game over the years.

I'm not even sure what Bollman does to be honest, Tressel calls ALL offensive plays.

Bollman is also the O-line coach, which is really an indication of how badly he deserves to be fired.

I see that as a problem as well. The game has changed over the years since Tressel has been our coach. He hasn't adjusted. Teams have to use their speed, you gotta spread out the defense, run n' gun. He still plays his safety game where he doesn't blow teams out and thinks he can just glide to a win against anyone. Obvously that's not the case anymore.

And why the fuck have we not seen Terrelle Pryor in the god damn Speed Option?

His mechanics are better so he is accuracy is better which allows him to throw the ball into small windows which he did several times today.
er wat? His accuracy was average today - yeah he might have made a couple nice throws but he also made just as many (or even more) poor throws. He threw over players heads too frequently and he also got bailed out by great catches multiple times when his throws that should have been easy ended up being very poor. He still had a solid game, but he should have done better.

Anyway, I was pretty impressed with Dobbs' toughness. I was a bit surprised with the play call on the two point conversion, sorta wonder what would have happened if they ran the ball. Given the outcome, I'm certainly not going to complain about the play call though lol:)

Next week should be......interesting, to say the least.

Ricky Robbs is really bad actually.. He's a RB playing QB and we let him complete just about every pass.

He started or got significant time in about 5 games last year, and he completed 9 passes the whole year. He completed 9 today.

Im sick of this team not putting their opponents away. Its been the same way for the last 7 years. Why cant we just run the score up one time? If we score another TD in the first half then Navy has absolutely no life coming out in the second half. Even if they do score right away like they did they still wouldnt be close to us... but instead we put a shitty backup QB in to get him "some looks". Here's an idea, why not run the score up with the starters until it is out of reach and then let the backups play the entire 4th quarter like EVERY OTHER TEAM in EVERY OTHER SPORT does!!!

It was so obvious we were light years better than Navy, but if you let a team hang around long enough then any team can come back. Thank God we had a couple big plays at the end of the game, or this one could have been a disaster.

Yeah; It's hard to believe Tressel has not learned a damn thing over the years. This year he seems to think it's still last year with a vet QB and young kid named Pryor as the future. Last year was just dandy to substitute Pryor. This year? Tressel is damn stupid. What big time football coach would put in their second QB who has almost zero chance to play in the SECOND quarter? Astounding. Compounding that mistake is the "1950's hand off to RB up the middle" on 4th and two. That mistake was preceded by going for it in the first place. Amazing.

Pryor came out smoking. What the hell gets in Tressel's head to all the sudden stop doing what you were doing? I don't get it. Same o'l, same o'l Tressel. Can't anyone in one of the biggest college universities in the country tell this genius that it's time to stop playing football that matches your style of attire? Get some damn common sense Coach.

A few thoughts.

The good:
-Duron Carter is going to be great
-Brandon Saine looked better(tougher) than about all of last year
-Terelle Pryor sets his feet much better and his throwing motion looks more fluid
-The DL looks pretty solid at times
-We actually used our tight ends this game unlike ALL of last year and guess what, they were very effective.

The bad:
-The offensive line looks equally as bad as recent years, plus they are younger. I've grown all too accustom to our RB's getting stuffed at the line of scrimmage. At best we hold our blocks, i never see any push.
-Our secondary outside of Kurt Coleman doesn't look very good. One on one a few of them got beat a number of times by Navy WR's, including bad passes from Navy.
-Total mental lapses at times. Bauserman...why? 4th down and 2? Why is the Navy QB untouched on a 20 yard TD run up the middle two times? How in gods name does a terrible passing team throw for a 85 yard touchdown?

About the 4th down and 2...at that point, You should be able to run a dive, tell the defense exactly what you're doing, and still get the first down.

The fact that we couldn't means our OLine isn't very good.

I disagree.

He did a much better job of setting his feet and squaring his hips on the move. He threw several passes into tight windows on the correct side of the receiver and away from the defender.

I dont know what bailout receptions you are referring to. He was 14-22 with Washington dropping 2 passes and Sanzenbacher letting a pass go through his hands which was intercepted. If you get 2 hands on the ball you should catch it.

This probably isn't our year, but we'll still probably win the big 10. Next year we're gonna have just about everyone returning and that's when we should be able to make a run at the Championship. Just doesn't look like the team is ready.

I agree with you, I don't think Pryor's accuracy was average at all, it was definitely good for the most part. Room for improvement, but there always is.

The Bucks defense may be stocked with top rated players, but they really didn't look like they were very aggressive or hard hitting. Some of their tackling looked a little suspect too.

I would also like to see Saine get more carries than Herron, and I'd like to see the freshman Berry run a view too.

By the way, on the 2 pt conversion return... is that considered an official interception? Or because it was on a conversion, is there just some generic term for it? Just curious. Dobbs was only credited with 1 INT (Coleman's).... and by the way, Coleman had a very solid game. Looks like he will be the team captain and one of the field leaders too.

Right.

He isn't Tom Brady right now but he has gotten better and has a lot of room to grow. I don't think he threads that needle to Sanzenbacher for the TD last year.
