OSU #2 in getting players drafted

Just looking at Scout's top 32, and there are 4 buckeyes in there:

#6 Hawk
#18 Holmes
#23 Youboty
#31 Mangold

Normally a center doesn't go in round 1 unless Butchie is drafting, but I guess we'll see. It sure would be a feather in the football program's cap to get 4 first rounders this year. Regardless, we'll be at the top of the list of colleges for producing NFL talent after this year.

OH yeah, not one kid from scUM. Way to go Lloyd!

OHIO STATE
DRAFTED PLAYERS POS ROUND PK(OVR) TEAM
Anthony Schlegel ILB 3 12(76) NY Jets
Nate Salley S 4 24(121) Carolina
Rob Sims OG 4 31(128) Seattle
AJ Hawk OLB 1 5(5) Green Bay
Donte Whitner S 1 8(8) Buffalo
Bobby Carpenter OLB 1 18(18) Dallas
Santonio Holmes WR 1 25(25) Pittsburgh
Nick Mangold OC 1 29(29) NY Jets
Ashton Youboty CB 3 6(70) Buffalo
OSU had 9 guys drafted, 7 on the first day, 5 in the first round, 2 in the top 10.

Nine drafted was second only to USC, who had eleven. I've gotta believe this makes us #1 in most players drafted, considering that USC wasn't even in the top 10 coming into this year.

Also, Kudla signed a contract with the Steelers. That's a steal to get him undrafted.

The only pre-requisite to go to Miami U is to have an ego. Everyone coming out of their does. Kellen Winslow, Ray Lewis, Clinton Portis, Michael Irvin, Sean Taylor, Edgerrin James, Willis McGahee, every last one of them. Sure they have good careers but a ton are riddled with off the field drama. Lewis Winslow Taylor for starters..

And Huston signed with Da Bears.

how many went from USC??

Even though they led in total players drafted, the draft was largely considered a disappointment for USC with most their players falling:
Losers

USC
Between the pending NCAA and Pac-10 investigations, off-field issues and star players dropping in the draft, this was a rough week for the Trojans. After experiencing almost nothing but success for most of three years, this was a punch in the stomach.

The image of the program – pure gold a few months ago – took a beating. Bush is circled with scandal. Leinart is being asked if teams shied away because of his Hollywood lifestyle. The words "character issues" were used to explain the plummeting stock of LenDale White and Winston Justice. That's not exactly how you want to present your program to future recruits.

Of course, at least the draft is over. No matter where everyone fell, Bush, Leinart and the rest should have great success in the NFL. USC may not be so fortunate. The investigations into players' alleged dealings with agents – inquiries that are just beginning – have long-term potential and could force USC to vacate its 2004 national championship.

This is funny. Michigan had 4 players drafted: 3 in the 4th, 1 in the 7th. Ohio State had 5 in the first round.
