Fiesta bowl ?

"Truth" be told between the two ?

It could happen.

it could or we could land V Tech.We arent even guarenteed a BCS bowl matchup cause oregon went 10-1 and they might steal it.i would think that we would get the bowl bid though,if not i wouldnt be very happy.

I agree...I dont think Oregon is left out.

When OSU played ND a few years ago, it set records in the ratings. Don't think the Fiesta Bowl doesn't know that. OSU travels better AND puts millions more butts in front of the TV. Getting Marquie (sp?) matchups and making money are what drives the BCS, and OSU vs ND is about a million times sexier than any game with Oregon. It's also in OSU's favor that they are conference champs, while Oregon (assuming a USC victory over UCLA), would not be. The BCS has a history of giving at large bids to Big Ten conference co-champs.

Another thing to consider is that if OSU makes the top 4 in the BCS they are guarenteed an at large bid. If VT loses to FSU and LSU to Georgia, both losable games, then we're a lock. Granted, the odds that BOTH of these games would go our way is not real high.

And oh yeah, the BCS has a history of leaving a one loss Oregon team out of the mix while accepting a sexier (and higher ranked) two loss team in their place. This already happened a couple years ago. Why wouldn't they again go with the sexier and higher ranked team, especially when all the dollars point in that direction? ESPN may be saying one thing, but they aren't the ones taking the hit to the pocket book if Oregon goes. I've heard alot of other media people saying ND vs OSU is a no brainer.

Rest assured, Buckeyes fans, I have no inside information regarding your team's postseason fate. The one thing I do know is that the Fiesta committee won't even hold its first formal meeting to discuss possible scenarios until Monday. And while this may come as a shock to some of you, it's going to be an awfully difficult decision for them.

First of all, as I've maintained for weeks, it's by no means set in stone that the Fiesta folks would take Notre Dame with their first pick. Penn State is every bit as attractive to them, in which case, the Buckeyes would have to hope the Orange wants them more than Notre Dame. Not likely. (Direct your e-mails to them, please, I'm just the messenger). If it does come down to an Oregon-OSU choice to face the Irish, there are any number of pros and cons to both.

It's no secret ABC would prefer the glamour of an OSU-Notre Dame matchup, but, contrary to popular perception, the network doesn't hold much sway in the process (if it did, do you really think we would have had a Utah-Pittsburgh game last year?). The bowl is going to do what's in its own best interest. Obviously, the game is played in a Pac-10 stadium, and there's a certain sense of loyalty to that conference, which, as you may recall, lost a second BCS berth (Cal) at the 11th hour last year. On the other hand, there are a huge amount of Midwest/Big Ten transplants in Phoenix who would eat up an ND-OSU game. Both schools have traveled well to the game in the past, so that factor probably won't come into play as much as usual. Neither will any number of irrelevant factors e-mailers have deluged me with like schedule strength, higher BCS ranking, etc. This isn't the national-title game or an NCAA tournament berth, people, it's a bowl bid. If these things went by merit, TCU wouldn't be playing in the Houston Bowl.

But don't take it from me. After reading your e-mails, I asked Fiesta Bowl media relations director and loyal Mailbag reader Shawn Schoeffler to give us an update. "We haven't made any decisions -- we really haven't," he said. "We're going to eat our turkey on Thanksgiving like everyone else, watch the rest of the regular-season games and make our decision on Dec. 4."

This is the first I've heard that money doesn't play a factor in who gets selected. Which sucks, as money is one of the things working in OSU's favor. :)

This is also the first I've heard that PSU could be the first selection for the Fiesta, which would kill OSU's chances for the BCS. The orange would then select ND to play the ACC champ, and the Fiest would NOT grab another Big Ten team to pair with PSU, forcing them to take Oregon.

Anyway, food for thought.

we just have to play the waiting game for now.

we have done our thing,if only the guy that i was with the whole year even last year especially when zwick was in started against texas.u cant bring him in for like every other possesion, hes a big game player and i love troy.700+ yards in 2 career games against michigan and a 2-0 record.

I fully blame both losses on Troy Smith and his inability to keep his hands off booster money. Had he not been suspended for the Bowl and Miami, and had been getting starter reps in spring ball, summer camp, and all the practices, against Texas and PSU he would of looked more like he looked at the end of the season, and we'd of won. Instead he had minimal to no reps and basically had to go through summer camp in mid season.

Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, and I don't think we'd be where we are today with out him, but it doesn't completely erase happened earlier.

Chris Spielman, just now on the Fan:
The Fiesta Bowl officials would be ignorant, bordering on insanity, if they do not match up Ohio State with Notre Dame.

LOL!

When is the shit going to be announced so we can put an end to these speculating threads.

next week, after all of the confernece champiohsips hav been played.

How bout them Zips, hell yeah.
