Quick update, going to be hard.

If the Cavs go 5-0, NY would need to go 2-3 or worse, Atl would need to go 2-5 or worse
If the Cavs go 4-1, NY would need to go 1-4 or worse, Atl would need to go 1-6 or worse
If the Cavs go 3-2, NY would need to go 0-5 or worse, Atl would need to go 0-7 or worse

Atlanta has basically guaranteed wins left @ Milwaukee, and probably against Detroit and maybe Boston.

The 0.6% odds Hollinger gives us are at least a bit on the generous side.

Atlanta is currently destroying Indiana, 47-19, in the second quarter. It may turn out that the last two games would not have mattered playoff-wise in the long run. ATL is playing really well right now.

Someone lock this thread. Stop torturing yourselves.

Even if the Cavs don't make it, and I don't expect them to now, this is good for them to build on.
It shows them what they need to do to actually get in the playoffs. It also helps the GM to see what they actually need to aquire to get them to that next level.

It was a good run. Felt good to be excited for Cavs basketball in April and rooting for them to win their games.

We aren't eliminated yet. There's still a slim, slim chance (0.1% heading into tonight). The hawks lost tonight (and have to lose out to keep that slim, slim chance alive). And what a pitiful crowd (I watched the end) in detroit. There was almost nobody there and according to the announcers on nba league pass there was no local broadcast.

:chuckles:

Jesus Christ!

What's the worst position to be in in the NBA? Last team mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

Way to go guys!!

That has a lot to do with context, and it doesn't totally apply here IMO.

You don't want to be in that position when it seems like that's where you've maxed out. I don't think this team has even come close to tapping its potential.

Also, if we made the playoffs, our pick would be #15. If we miss, even by one game, there's a good chance our pick is #9, maybe even #8. So of all years to barely miss, this is probably the year and the conference to do it in.

And as unlikely as it is, there is still a shot at a high pick. Derrick Rose had only the slimmest possibility of going to the Bulls.

Bulls won Rose from the 9th spot. We won Kyrie from the 7th spot.

There's always a chance, just a real small one.

i just want wins.. we'll have a fine draft pick without losing on purpose.

now if we make the playoffs with a .1% chance..THAT would be how to cap off this season lol

Here's a bump post so I hopefully don't have to keep looking at that J.R Smith cutout thing at the top of the page every time I visit this thread.
