I'm pretty much 100% sure at this point that the Hornets will not move David West. This is more of an Amare pipedream at this point. What's worse is that West can't even hold a candle to Amare, so this is turning out to be a poor man's version of Amare Watch 2009.

Think about it. West has the most friendly contract on the team for not being an expiring deal. His salary actually goes DOWN next year. I'm sure they can get creative and dump some other guys for non-guaranteed contracts. They're like $1 million or so away from the tax threshold. Why just give up David West, who is CP3's best friend on the team?

It's pretty much between Jamison and Murphy at this point unless some wildcard comes out of nowhere. Windhorst even suggested that the Cavs may not even be talking about a PF so who knows anymore?

I voted West, and IMO, it ain't even close.

-young(unlike Jamison).
-tough(unlike Jamison or Murphy).
-playoff tested(unlike Murphy who's never been there).
-did I mention tough as nails?

Tough unlike Jamison? Ha....he's as soft as my limp dick.

The only thing you got right is he's youngER than Jamison....but he'll still be 30 before the year starts next year. Jamison will turn 34 when we're in the finals.

So you're trying to tell me that a low post banger(West) is softer than a guy(AJ) who shoots nothing but jumpers?

Okay...

I really like the idea of getting Kirilenko:

I posted this on another board:

I was on a Jazz board and asked what they thought about AK47 and a lot of them think he needs to go back to playing PF and that Sloan has beat on him to much. See here to get Jazz fans take on him: http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=971688

AK had a PER above 20 for 4 straight years, when he was playing PF. The flexibility he would bring on the defensive end would be very good. He is also expiring next year, if he is playing well, we resign him to a much better contract for us and if he isn't playing great we can move him for another piece.

Yeah, but that guy is saying Mike Brown could make him a better defender? I don't think so, he's already under a defensive mindset under Sloan.

Just say no to David West. I'd prefer Murphy out of all of the options just because he seems like the cheapest option of the few. We don't wanna mortgage the future away and give up Enyenga or JJ.

Okay...

West is not a banger. Shaq is a banger.....Kendrick Perkins is a banger. West is more of a stretch 4 who can play down low with finesse. He's more like Boozer, Aldridge, but not as good. In fact, he's a lot like Jamison but he doesn't shoot the 3. He's definitely got game though, and he's only 29. He would be a great addition to make a "big 3" with Mo & LeBron. But to say he's tough and Jamison isn't - doesn't work.

I'm not one to say such and such trades would never happen - again - but Z for West is as close to that as possible.

Its not even an argument...West isnt better than jamison or even murphy...He isnt consistent enough and not really a banger....Jamison and murphy are much more of a threat and double-double machines

But those who have really watched murphy and more familiar with him...How is he defensively? I know he isnt known as a tough defender or shot blocker...But is he a good/decent team defender?

I just get the feeling we may end up with him

Murphy is a terrible defender. Terrible pick and role. I personally think he is best as a center to be honest as he is as strong as most big men..can actually hold his own against Howard (although howards quickness is tough for murphy, but who doesnt have promblems with howard). I too think we will end up with him.

That said, he is fantastic 3 point shoot and one of the best rebounders in the entire league. He has flaws, but he also has some strengths.

I think he is a better long term piece because of age and position. Jamison is a small pf. We already have jj and a recovering powe, and it looks like jawad might make a play for some pf playing time. As for Murphy, he could start at center with powe. Powe is an underated defender, and would give us a great inside outside big man rotation and have andy and jj coming off the bench...unless ofcourse jj developes. Just thinking of the future since we dont have any centers currently under 34 unless you cound andy.

Its like this.

1. Jamison

2. Murphy

3. West because its not going to happen.

Come on, really?

I understand being somewhat hesitant to give up JJ, but.... really?

The more I read, the less appealing all 3 options become... unless one of these guys goes to the 80% off rack, I'd almost prefer to just stand pat at this point.

Wow what is your malfunction for saying this?

http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/64390/20100201/chris_paul_to_have_knee_surgery/

Hornets point guard Chris Paul will undergo arthroscopic surgery for a cartilage tear in his left knee on Monday and could miss one to two months, sources close to Paul told Yahoo! Sports on Sunday night.

Paul injured the knee in the final moments of regulation in a loss to the Bulls on Friday. Paul was injured after he fell into a photographer on the baseline after trying to catch an errant inbounds pass from Hornets forward David West. Paul came up limping after the play, which led to the Bulls tying the game with .2 seconds left.

Maybe David West is back in play now? We'd probably have to take on Posey or Mo Pete still, but just curious.
