Potential 2019 Head coaches for the Browns

Usually when a coach fires a position coach mid-season it's because the brass put pressure on the head coach to make changes because he is on the hot seat. For example, the Panthers brass met with Ron Rivera after the loss this week, and shortly after he fired a few assistant coaches. I don't imagine he had much of a choice given the timing.

What are your guys thoughts on eric bieniemy? Too early for him?

It is so weird to me he is a coach.

He was my favorite running back in 1990, I liked the Buffaloes for some reason during my high school years, and Bieniemy was a part of that. I know I am not adding to the discussion, but him and Alonzo Highsmith make me feel really old because I was huge fans of both of them on field, and now they are middle aged execs/coaches, lol.

The smoke isn’t going away and when the hell have we ever heard a potential coach go um I’m not interested in Green Bay and Cleveland is the only place I will go View: https://twitter.com/zachgelb/status/1070077564616617989?s=21

Him going out of his way to say he wants to coach the team would go a long way in winning over the locker room. He’ll have guys ready to run though a wall for him before he walks into the building. He’s one of the best coaches of the decade and wants to coach for us. We need to jump on it now.

Strangely, I do think we're closer to being a contending team than Green Bay right now. We've got several young playmakers on defense on their rookie contracts, a franchise QB who is setting records as a rookie and poised to make a leap next year, great RBs, and a mountain of cap space to address the holes we do have.

I'd say the only edge Green Bay has on us is that Davante Adams is better than any receiver we have and, obviously, Aaron Rodgers. But for all we know, the opportunity to coach a young Baker Mayfield may be preferable to a lot of coaches out there. With the Packers, success is going to be expected and demanded, and that might be a little frightening given that they have apparently whiffed on a whole lot of draft picks the past few years (although how much of that is on McCarthy is a fair debate). With the Browns, success is going to be celebrated, because we haven't experienced it for over twenty years. It's just a lower pressure job with a similarly high ceiling.

Has anyone spent time watching the Vikings this year?

John DeFilippo is a hot name for the Browns coaching search, but a large contingent of Vikings fans have hated him this season.

Just fans being fans or has he actually been that bad?

If Cousins would stop overshooting easy reads, they’d be much better.

Flip is still a stud.

The little bit I've seen of the Vikings I thought their offensive scheme sucked. They've had some great breakout playmakers, but the scheme was unimpressive IMO.

Wasn’t before and still not impressed with Flip.
I’m on the Arians train. Warming to the idea of McCarthy too.

The only way my wife gets pearl necklaces around the holidays is if chestnuts are involved.

He's number 1 on the list. Just fits.

My fear is Dorsey having already zeroed in on McCarthy and we're stuck seeing "the one that got away" get passed over for the 3rd time.

The dude is PUBLICLY stating he wants the job any time he can. He's qualified and wants it.

it's time.

It truly is something I'm not exactly sure how to react to.

A coach, with a .600+ winning percentage, is publicly stating "Nah, I'm good on the Packers job......Cleveland is the only place I'm coaching again."

We truly are hitting what feels like a turning point. Ton of young talent, a franchise QB, a changing culture and coaches like Arians lining up to guide the ship.

It feels like it is going to be a really fun ride.
